The

Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament;

The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on

1st July 2008.  The mandate of UNRA is to

develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general

roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.


Job Summary: The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for

processing financial records such as bills, invoices, accounts payable and

receivable. The Assistant will also be responsible for basic book keeping

activities, preparing payment vouchers and expense forms; receiving and

receipting cash from the sale of bidding documents, pay out cash and reconcile

the cash balances in the cash book on a daily basis. The Assistant will also

keep value documents like security papers from BOU.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In charge of processing and filing financial

    records;

  • Responsible for the reconciliation of bank

    statements;

  • Post entries in the relevant books of

    accounts;

  • Prepare payment vouchers and expense forms;

  • Receive and receipt cash from the sale of

    bidding documents;

  • Disburse cash and reconcile the cash balances

    in the cash book on a daily basis;

  • Keep value documents like security papers

    from BOU;

  • Update and maintain the fixed asset register;

  • Prepare and submit monthly financial

    management reports.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Accountant


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the UNRA Accounts Assistant

    job vacancy should hold an Honors degree in Commerce, Business

    Administration, Finance, International Business or any other relevant

    courses from a recognized University;

  • At least two years’ experience in Finance and

    Accounts in a large organization.

  • High degree of integrity;

  • Excellent track record of outstanding

    performance;

  • Computer literacy skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team;

  • Excellent oral and written communication

    skills;

  • Excellent interpersonal, particularly

    staff/management relation skills

  • Ability to deliver accurate results in a timely

    manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks.
