Medecins Sans

Frontieres is an independent international humanitarian organization which

supports victims of war, displaced and disable people in situation of armed

conflicts.


Key

Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Ensure confidentiality on all cash / finance

issues related to MSF


·        
Responsible for cash kept in petty cash boxes

under his/her responsibility, ensure they are safely and discreetly managed.


·        
Responsible for timeliness and quality paper

accounting (vouchers), according to MSF standards


·        
Keenly monitor cash available, anticipate needs

for the day (payments, advances), request cash need for the day to finance officer


·        
Perform currency exchange transactions as

requested by finance officer


·        
Acknowledge receipt of cash by signing the finance

officer’s cashbook


·        
In charge of performing internal controls as per

MSF guidelines: daily cash counts, weekly cash inventories, end-of-month cash

inventories


·        
Ensure control of receipts and payments to

suppliers comply very strictly with MSF financial guideline, and the purchasing

/ validation / payment procedures for the mission


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 


·        
The Finance Assistant should at least hold a Bachelor’s

degree in Business Management or any Accounting Diploma.


·        
At least two years’ experience as an accountant is

an added advantage


·        
Computer literacy i.e. working knowledge of

accounting software and MS-Office (Excel)


·        
Excellent interpersonal skills


·        
Good organisational skills


·        
High degree of flexibility and initiative


·        
Proven ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and

multi-cultural environment, good physical condition.


·        
Ability to summarise, to work independently;


·        
Good stress management and resourcefulness;


·        
Honesty and ability to prioritise tasks;


·        
Language: Fluency in English

mandatory, French is a strong asset
