In 1996,

Action Africa Help International (AAIN) became Aktion Africa Hilfe e. V (AAH)

and was registered in Munich, Germany from where our founders in 2003 moved the

organisation’s headquarters to Kenya. AAH-I now works with refugees, host

communities and other marginalized and vulnerable groups in Kenya, Uganda,

Somalia and South Sudan, where it operates across a range of sectors that seek

to bridge relief to development.


Action Africa

Help Uganda (AAH Uganda) has been receiving funding from the United Nations

High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to implement programmes in the Districts

of Hoima (Kyangwali Refugee Settlement), Adjumani District and Kampala.


Job

Summary:
The Enrolled Comprehensive Nurse will provide a comprehensive nursing package

that includes preventive, curative and health education to support and

encourage a healthy living culture within the target population.


Key

Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Provide continuous nursing services in both the

IPD and OPD units.


·        
Ensure patients are comfortable, in a healthy and

secure environment to enhance quick recovery.


·        
Manage and supervise performance of the direct

reports


·        
Coach, capacity build and provide mentorship to

the direct reports


·        
Conduct observations, diagnosis, and nursing

procedures and give necessary treatment in consultation with the Clinical

Officer.


·        
Actively participate in MCO/MO Ward rounds,

receive, admit and discharge patients while maintaining their proper historical

records for reference.


·        
Take part in PHC activities that include health

education, MCH activities and nutrition programmes.


·        
Register and prepare birth notifications for all

births, monitor and report on the general health condition of the mother and

the new born.


·        
Maintain personal contact with patients, take note

of their complaints, carry out corrective measure and escalate for further

action if necessary.


·        
Conduct family planning, PMTCT and HCT services.


·        
Carry out health education and ensure continuous

improvement in nurse service provision


·        
Compile reproductive/child health data and submit

reports to the supervisor for monitoring and setting shared targets for

planning.


·        
Prepare and send progress reports covering the

areas of operation.


·        
Manage patients with confidentiality and adherence

to the professional code of conduct.


·        
Perform any other duties as assigned by the

supervisor


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 


·        
The applicant for the UNHCR AAH Enrolled

Comprehensive Nurse vacancy should hold a certificate in Comprehensive Nursing

(three years)


·        
Possession of a certificate of enrolment from the

national nursing body


·        
A minimum of two years’ experience in similar or

higher position.


·        
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills


·        
Excellent command of both written and spoken

English


·        
Patient, understanding and of a pleasant character


·        
Computer literacy skills with the ability to use

Microsoft Office


·        
Good people management skills


·        
Ability to capacity build and develop others


·        
Ability to mobilize different audiences


·        
Commitment to the organizational values
