Weighbridge Technician Job Placement - Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA)

The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was

established by an Act of Parliament; The Uganda National Authority Act, No.

15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on 1st July 2008.  The mandate of UNRA is to develop and

maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general roads

policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.


Job Summary: The

Weighbridge Technician will be charged with the servicing and repairing of the

fixed weigh bridges and portable weigh scales. The Technician will also be responsible

for ensuring full time functionality of all UNRA weigh scales. In addition,

the technician will be responsible for ensuring that all UNRA weigh scales

are calibrated at all times.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the service and

    repair Weigh scales in line with the agreed guidelines;

  • Ensure that all the weighing bridge

    calibrations are up to date;

  • Maintain operational health and

    safety standards;

  • Actively participate in

    stakeholder training for the weighbridge operators in trouble shooting;

  • Prepare and submit reports on

    weighbridge servicing and repair and submit to the weighbridge

    controller.

  • Perform any other duties as

    assigned by the Weighbridge Controller


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience:

  • The applicant for the UNRA

    Weighbridge Technician job vacancy should hold a Higher Diploma in Mechanical

    Engineering, Electrical Engineering or in any other related field;

  • Practical experience in the

    servicing and repair of weigh scales is a must

  • At least three years relevant

    experience

  • Computer literacy skills

  • High degree of integrity;

  • Ability to work as part of a team

    and to develop subordinates;

  • Excellent interpersonal,

    particularly staff/management relation skills

  • Excellent oral and written

    communication skills.
