Head of Fundraising, Grants and Communications Non-profit Careers - CoRSU







Duty Station: Kisubi, Wakiso, Uganda


CoRSU

was established in 2006 as a private non-profit, non-government organization in

Uganda after extensive consultation with various stake holders. It is a Ugandan

initiative which was encouraged and supported by CBM with the main aim of

expanding and improving the rehabilitation services for children and people

with disability.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Identify funding opportunities

  • The jobholder will prepare draft proposals,

    share for discussion and endorsement, refine and submit to donors

  • Initiate registration with major donor

    institutions and gather information on funding and accountability

  • Increase local funding through private

    patients, appeals for individual donations and corporate companies

  • The incumbent will increase awareness through

    events and publications

  • Provide regular communication with potential

    and existing donors through reports, tours etc

  • Manage and supervise the team for Resource

    Mobilization, Advocacy and Awareness.

  • Assist the CEO in lobbying institutional

    donors.

  • Identify, develop and maintain good

    relationships with existing and potential institutional donors,

    foundations, individuals etc.

  • Provide institutional donors with accurate

    information on possible CoRSU programs/projects.

  • Represent CoRSU at appropriate institutional

    donor meetings, joint agency assessments, and task forces as requested by

    the CEO. Systematically see through and follow up the application

    development process.

  • Develop information material and regular

    giving programs to potential individual donors both in Uganda and overseas. 

  • Prepare the public Annual Report.

  • Provide capacity development in funding

    skills for the staff of CoRSU.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The Head of Fundraising, Grants and

    Communications must hold a University degree preferably in marketing,

    communication, grants writing/project management or any other relevant

    field. Possession of a Post graduate qualification in proposal writing is

    an added advantage

  • Three years’ experience in funding proposal

    writing and a proven track record of writing successful grants

  • Excellent communication, presentation and

    social skills.

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of

    disability

  • Broad understanding of the workings of

    bi-lateral and multi-lateral institutional donors.

  • Previous exposure and experience in working

    in the NGO/Not-for-Profit sector with proven track record of strategic

    planning, proposal writing and budgeting for institutional donors.

    (Experience with EU or USAID funding an advantage).

  • Demonstrate respect for patients and their

    families regardless of tribal origin, gender, race, age, religion, disease

    process, or financial status.
