War Child Canada is an international non-governmental organization which

is helping mothers and families around the world give their children a safe

start in life and give their communities the best chance of a peaceful future. Children

represent both the immediate present and the society’s future, which is why

protecting those childhoods is the key to breaking the cycle of violence. When

war breaks out, children look to those close to them for protection.


Job Summary: The Legal

Assistant will be responsible for supporting the smooth running of the daily

activities of War Child Canada’s Legal Aid Clinic, including client management

and follow up, facilitation of alternative dispute resolution and to contribute

to legal awareness raising activities and legal trainings.


Key Duties and

Responsibilities: 

  • In charge of receiving interviewing,

    registering, and maintaining proper filling system for clients.

  • Offering referral and counseling advice to

    clients including field visits for follow up.

  • In charge of promoting legal and human

    rights awareness within targeted communities.

  • Carry out trainings and radio legal panel

    discussions on relevant legal issues.

  • Carrying out all other case-specific legal

    actions relevant to appropriate client management.

  • Performing any other related duties as

    shall be assigned by the supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate must possess a Diploma

    in Law (Degree in Law is an added advantage.)

  • At least two years working experience in a

    related field.

  • Fluency in local languages and an

    excellent working knowledge of spoken and written English.

  • Profound knowledge on Child Protection,

    SGBV and the general legal system of Uganda.

  • Computer literacy i.e. working knowledge

    of Computer packages such as (MS word Excel Power point and Database).

  • Ability/willingness to learn to ride a

    motor cycle
