War Child Canada is an international non-governmental organization which

is helping mothers and families around the world give their children a safe

start in life and give their communities the best chance of a peaceful future. Children

represent both the immediate present and the society’s future, which is why

protecting those childhoods is the key to breaking the cycle of violence. When

war breaks out, children look to those close to them for protection.


Job Summary:  The War Child Canada Driver will be in charge

of transporting personnel, and provide operational support in the

implementation of Programmes. To ensure appropriate use and care of War Child

Canada property


Key Duties and

Responsibilities: 

  • The Driver will transport War Child

    personnel, guest, goods and/or items safely.

  • Fully comply to the driving laws of the

    country, including use of seat belts, zero use of alcohol or other drugs.

  • Carry out daily maintenance and cleaning

    of the War Child Canada vehicles i.e. routine check of engine oil, window

    wiper, radiator, air pressure, brake fluid, secure battery terminal, oil

    leakage, inside and outside cleanliness etc.

  • Conduct maintenance and general servicing

    when necessary.

  • In charge of maintaining the medical box,

    fire extinguisher and tool kit at all times whilst in charge of vehicle.

  • The Driver will maintain documentations of

    the vehicle for example Insurance, log book etc.

  • Carry out all other safety and security

    related tasks as shall be required by policies and laws.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the War Child

    Canada vacancy must hold a valid Driver’s license.

  • Three or more years’ experience as a

    driver with an organization.

  • Possess the ability to drive automatic and

    manual vehicles on tarmac and murram roads.

  • Excellent working knowledge of spoken and

    written English.

  • Fluency in local languages in the

    Kiryandongo area

  • Some mechanical knowledge is an advantage.
