2 Water Quality Analyst Vacancies - Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE)

The Ministry of Water and Environment

(MWE) through the Directorate of Water Development DWD) established Umbrella

Organisations (UOs) as de-concentrated units to support the Operation and

Maintenance (O&M) of the water and sanitation facilities in small towns and

rural growth centres geared towards improving their Functionality and

Sustainability. The UOs which are funded by both Government of Uganda (GoU) and

the Development Partners (DPs) are de-concentrated in six regions namely;

South- Western-Kabale, Central-Wakiso, Mid-Western- Kyenjojo, Northern-Lira,

Eastern-Mbale and Karamoja-Moroto covering the entire Country.


Key

Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Conducting

quarterly water quality surveillance (monitoring and testing) of the water and sanitation

facilities in the region to assess their status and performance.


·        
Prepare

workplans for implementation of the water quality activities while ensuring

that all environmental concerns are addressed as stipulated in the standards

and the design documents.


·        
Work

closely with and cooperate with District Water Officers and other stakeholders

for effective implementation of projects.


·        
Ensure

non-compliance of water quality is reported and adequate decisions / actions

are taken as per the National and International Standards for Drinking Water.


·        
Perform

any other assignment that may be assigned from time to time.


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 


·        
The

applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. Possession

of a postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.


·        
At

least three years’ experience in monitoring and surveillance activities in the

water and sanitation sector.
