The

Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament;

The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on

1st July 2008.  The mandate of UNRA is to

develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general

roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.


Job Summary: The ICT Officer- Systems Support will also

be responsible for planning, designing, supporting and maintaining the ICT

systems. The Officer is also responsible for the day to day operational maintenance

of the organisational ICT systems through the provision of technical support

and advice to users across the UNRA sites and offices, platforms and

technologies.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Offer technical support and administration to

    staff on all ICT services, systems and configurations;

  • Work closely with internal and external

    stakeholders to provide technical support;

  • Actively monitor, analyze and report on

    system performance;

  • Manage the consistent use of agreed tools and

    methods to address and resolve user identified problems in line with the

    service level agreements;

  • Define and monitor compliance with processes

    for the setup and installation of user-end hardware, software, applications,

    peripherals and others ICT base systems to agreed service levels;

  • Escalate performance issues with internal

    and/or external providers to minimize adverse impact of systems

    availability on business continuity;

  • The incumbent will manage the validity of ICT

    reference materials to ensure up-to date solutions for known issues;

  • Report against performance metrics to highlight

    areas where application development, vendor relationship management or

    strategic infrastructure modifications are required for enhancing business

    performance and efficiency;

  • Quickly respond to audit reports and implement

    agreed recommendations within specified time frames;

  • Develop risk matrix and put in place risk

    mitigation measures in the systems administration at UNRA;

  • Actively participate in planning, budgeting

    and reporting in line with departmental guidelines and targets.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the UNRA ICT Officer-

    Systems Administrator job vacancy should hold an Honors degree in Computer

    Science, Computer Engineering, Information Communication Technology or any

    other relevant courses from a recognized University.

  • Possession of professional IT Certifications

    i.e.  CCNA, MCSA, MCITP, MCTS, A+,

    Network+ is an added advantage.

  • At least three years’ experience in the

    systems administration in a large organization.

  • Excellent interpersonal, particularly

    staff/management relations, oral and

  • written communication skills;

  • Ability to work and produce accurate results

    in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks;

  • Analytical and problem solving techniques;

  • Excellent customer service;

  • High level of Integrity.
