Salary: Monthly Stipend of 550 dollars per month


Global Health Corps pairs intelligent and

passionate fellows with organizations that require new thinking and innovative

solutions. We provide these young leaders with the tools to remain connected

after their fellowship year finishes, deepening their ability to enact change

through heightened skills and strong partnerships. We currently place fellows

in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, the United States, and Zambia.


The Foundation for Community Development

and Empowerment (FCDE) collaborates with established community-based

organizations to increase their institutional capacity. Acting as a catalyst,

FCDE provides direct support to strengthen each partner organization’s efficacy

in the community and ensures that local voices direct development. Some of our

capacity building approaches include: conducting skill building workshops,

providing one-on-one support, placing interns with organizations, helping

conduct institutional self-assessments, grant making, assisting organizations

with identifying funding opportunities, and providing a localized resource

center for the community.


Job Summary: The Program Officer will render support

in developing, improving, and expanding the organization’s positive impact on

underserved communities by increasing the efficacy of the health programs of

FCDE’s community partners in Uganda.  The

Program Officer will also be responsible for technically supporting local

organizations to deliver quality services through planning, implementing,

monitoring, and evaluating programs and projects focusing on health and

HIV/AIDS programs.  The Program Officer

will render support in these three core areas;

Design and Implementation: Work closely with FCDE partner

organizations to design and implement innovative health and HIV/AIDS programs

and projects in line with new trends in the field


·        
Monitoring and Evaluation: Support partners in designing, implementing,

monitoring and evaluation frameworks (including reporting and delivery) to

track impact of set goals, objectives and indicators for programs and projects


·        
Fund Mobilization: Support partner organizations to

increase their capacity for fundraising through grant writing, marketing, and

sustainability planning


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Carry

out assessments of partner organizations to identify gaps in programmatic

design and management of innovative programs/projects focused on health and

HIV/AIDS


·        
Research

and disseminate information to partners on new trends of health and HIV/AIDS

issues; be an advocate for creative solutions and new ideas in the field


·        
Provide

training and mentorship to partner organizations in the areas of designing,

implementing, monitoring, and evaluating health programs/projects in relation

to new trends; this includes developing project log frames, setting realistic

goals, objectives and indicators, designing tools for data collection, data

analysis, and interpreting and generating reports from the analyzed data


·        
Technically

support partner organization’s fundraising efforts through identification of

potential funders, writing quality proposals, and marketing their stories


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The

ideal candidate for the Global Health Corps career opportunity should have keen

interest in organizational capacity building, especially in rural communities


·        
Working

knowledge of new trends in health and HIV/AIDS issues, or strong interest in

learning about them


·        
Demonstrated

ability to work in a team environment with self-sufficiency and self-motivation


·        
Prior

experience with project planning and management, including monitoring and

evaluation


·        
Good

proposal writing skills and experience


·        
Ability

to undertake regular field visits to rural communities


·        
Applicants

with experience in advocacy have an added advantage


·        
Training

and facilitation skills desired; comfortable with public speaking


·        
Prior

experience in partnership development is desired


·        
Demonstrated

ability to get things done and come in with an open mind, new ideas, and a

passion for global health


Job Terms and Conditions: Fellows will be provided with housing,

health insurance and a living stipend of $550/month. Additionally, fellows will

receive an award of $1500 upon successful completion of the fellowship year.

Flights to and from the placement site and all other costs associated with GHC

programming are included, including $600 in professional development funds.

FCDE will provide a full house for the fellows, which will be equipped with

individual rooms for each GHC fellow, a comfortable living space, a kitchen and

washroom. The house will be located less than two kilometers from the office in

Kasese, a peri-urban center.


Note:

The living stipend and completion award may be paid out in USD or local

currency, as determined by the placement organization.
