December 1967, the Bank has become a household name and has grown in leaps and
bounds with a good track record among the pioneers of a mortgage lending.
National Housing & Construction Corporation, a parastatal involved in real
estate business has 5% shareholding and National Social Security Fund (NSSF)
holds 50% and the Government of Uganda holds 45%. Today, the bank looks back
with pride on the business accomplished in the mortgage lending business.
Through innovation and placing emphasis on Honesty, Integrity, Efficiency and
Customer care, Housing Finance Bank is the leader in the mortgage, holding a
90% market share.
Job Summary: The Senior Legal Officer Registration and
Securities will provide legal registration services that will facilitate
effective management of the Bank securities portfolio and enable the
achievement of a robust asset quality in line with the Bank’s policies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry out due diligence prior to safe custody
or release of securities, prepare supporting documents and obtain request
endorsements and documentation in line with the Bank’s Policies and
Procedures - Deliver timely and cost effective Legal
Advisory services to Management on issues arising in the course of the
conduct of the Bank’s business in line with business growth strategies and
the bank’s policies. - Actively monitor, co-ordinate and process
lease extension and renewals for the Bank’s securities in line with agreed
SLA’s and turnaround time. - Implement mechanisms for accessing,
assessing, retrieval, stock-taking and auditing of the securities database
in line with the Bank’s policies and procedures - Address queries regarding the Bank’s
securities and maintain a record of relevant records of
correspondences/files and ensure safe custody thereof. - Routinely monitor and co-ordinate the activities
that the Bank’s service providers are engaged in to support securities
management in line with their service Level agreements. - Prepare and submit periodic reports as and
when required for Management’s consideration
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Housing Finance
Bank Senior Legal Officer Registration should hold a Bachelor of Laws (LLB-Hons) from a
recognised University and A diploma in Legal Practice from the Law
Development Centre. - At least three years’ experience in Securities and
Registration in a Banking Institution - Broad knowledge and understanding of laws and
regulations relating to financial institutions. - Skills and knowledge of securities and
advisory management - Good team player
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
- Securities and Registration Management skills
and knowledge - High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Excellent communication and presentation
skills.
