The
Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament;
The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on
1st July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to
develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general
roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.
Job Summary: The Weighbridge Operator will be responsible for
weighing vehicle Axle and
gross
weights by use of weighbridge equipment. The Operator will also be responsible
for ensuring full time functionality of weigh scales, maintaining cleanness
around the weighbridge and especially the gaps between the weighing platform
and the foundation for accurate weighing, reporting any malfunction immediately
it is noted as per the procedure, that overloaded trucks are offloaded and
reweighed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage Weighbridge operations in line with
the agreed guidelines; - Maintain operational health and safety
standards; - Ensure that heavy vehicles comply to the load
limits; - Ensure that all the weighing bridge
calibrations are up to date; - Screen and weigh vehicles and calculate
overloads and implement the procedures for overloaded vehicles; - Issue fines to vehicles that exceed maximums on
axles, axle combinations and total vehicle loads; - Actively participate in stakeholder
engagement/ training and manage client relations; - Prepare and submit daily reports on weighbridge
operations and submit to the weighbridge controller. - Perform any other duties as assigned by the Weighbridge
Controller
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the UNRA Weighbridge
Operator job vacancy should hold an Honor’s Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical
Engineering, Civil Engineering Economics, Social Sciences, Business
Administration, Management, ICT or any other relevant degree; - Relevant experience will be an added advantage
- Computer literacy skills
- High degree of integrity;
- Ability to work as part of a team and to
develop subordinates; - Excellent interpersonal, particularly
staff/management relation skills - Excellent oral and written communication
skills.
