provide lasting solutions to poverty, injustice and human suffering. LWF Uganda

works to reduce people’s vulnerability, supporting them to realize their

potential, to build on their assets, and to respond to their own problems and

needs. LWF Uganda currently has five areas of operation in Pader, Kitgum,

Adjumani, Katakwi, Sembabule, Kampala and Kamwenge Districts.


Job

Summary:
 The Project Officer – Business

Development will be in charge of the development and delivery of projects that

support the growth of the local economy and which contribute to local economic

development priorities.


Key

Duties and Responsibilities: 


1. Support the sustainable economic

growth of the area by:


·        
Render support in the development of prioritised

sectors of the local economy to support economic regeneration and deliver

sustainable economic growth


·        
Supporting and working with other colleagues

across the Planning & Development Division to assist delivery of economic

development projects


2. Project Development and Management:


·        
Procure services, manage contractual arrangements

including tendering processes in the development and implementation of projects


·        
The incumbent will identify and research

opportunities in respect of business growth priorities and to develop business

cases, project briefs and project plans accordingly


·        
Deliver projects in line with agreed economic

priorities, to monitor and evaluate projects, and to prepare reports on project

outcomes and impacts


·        
Offer support in the development of opportunities

for innovative solutions in respect of local economic development


·        
Develop and implement a programme of activities

that supports business growth


·        
The incumbent will raise the awareness of the

respective roles and activities of the local authority and partner agencies in

the wider business support network; to signpost and advise businesses on how to

access their services


·        
Represent LWF in appropriate external networks,

forums and working groups


4. Performance Management and Monitoring:


·        
Actively monitor the outcomes and impacts of

projects supported by the LWF and to report accordingly


·        
Monitor progress in respect of project expenditure

and income and to report accordingly


·        
Input to the management of LWF revenue budgets

through service and corporate financial performance reporting systems


·        
Assist in securing funding from external sources

to support LWF projects and be responsible for related financial claims,

reporting and audit processes


·        
Manage funding schemes and process and assess

applications from businesses seeking support for business development

initiatives


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 


·        
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Degree

or equivalent experience in Economic Development, Business, Marketing or other

relevant discipline is essential


·        
A minimum of three years of business development

experience covering the following areas: business planning; investment

knowledge/ experience; public and private sector experience


·        
Previous experience of providing business advice

to existing businesses or running your own small business or a senior

management position in a large organisation


·        
Evidence of project management skills are

essential


·        
Previous exposure and experience in managing and

monitoring budgets


·        
Evidence of working in partnership to seek and

achieve specific outcomes.


·        
Working knowledge of key economic sectors and

opportunities to support growth


·        
Premier Advisor qualification is desirable
