PSI

hopes to win the mandate to implement an anticipated 5-year USAID-funded Uganda

Sanitation Program. The project will focus on sustainable improvement to the

quality, access and supply of water and sanitation services and improve hygiene

behaviors in Uganda.


Job Summary: The Behavioral Economist will lead behavior

change/demand creation activities related to expanding key hygiene behaviors at

home, school and health facilities. The Behavioral Economist will provide

strategic, technical and managerial guidance to the Project in collaboration

with the Project’s Chief of Party (COP). The incumbent will be expected to

design high quality project interventions and assessments in collaboration with

a third party Evaluation Contractor. He/she will be expected to build local

capacity of selected entities in the design, implementation and evaluation of

SBCC programming.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the USAID Behavioral

    Economist career placement should hold a Master’s degree in Psychology,

    Communication, Marketing, Business, Economics  or related field or a Bachelor’s degree

    with five years of additional relevant experience (for a total of 10 years

    of minimum experience when considering below bullet which requires 5

    years)

  • At least five years of demonstrated success

    in generating innovative and effective behavior change or marketing

    solutions preferably in Uganda providing technical assistance to improve

    private sector performance

  • Prior experience with WASH programs will be

    an added advantage but not mandatory.

  • Working knowledge and implementation of

    behavior change theory

  • Creativity and entrepreneurial outlook.

  • Proven ability to work well as part of a team

    and effectively develop and manage a network of collaborating partners
