Job Summary: The Behavior Change Advisor will support an anticipated
USAID-funded WASH opportunity in Uganda. The Behavior Change Advisor will be
responsible for overseeing behavior change/demand creation activities for the
initiative. S/he will be expected to design high quality project interventions
and assessments. The incumbent will be expected to build local capacity of
selected entities behavior change programming.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for the project to expand
key hygiene behaviors at home, school, and health facilities. - Provide strategic, technical, and managerial
guidance to the project for behavior change, including leveraging the
private sector to support behavior change - The jobholder will develop a strategy based
upon experience, literature review and formative research to address key
hygiene behaviors - Provide leadership in collaboration with
other USG partners to implement or strengthen coordinated district-wide
behavior change campaigns that target key hygiene behaviors - Design formative research that focuses on
barriers and motivators for key hygiene behaviors - Contribute to capacity-building activities
with project staff and selected local entities (e.g. market assessments,
impact evaluations, formative research surveys, behavior change
interventions)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the USAID Project FHI
360 Behavior Change Advisor career opportunity should hold a Master’s
degree in Psychology, Communication, Marketing, Business, Economics, or
related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of
additional relevant experience (for a total of 10 years of minimum
experience when also considering below bullet which requires 5 years) - At least five years of demonstrated success
in generating innovative and effective behavior change or marketing
solutions, preferably in Uganda; - Previous exposure and experience working on
water, sanitation, and hygiene activities a plus, but not required - Working knowledge and implementation of
behavior change theory - Knowledge and implementation of behavioral
economics theory is highly desirable - Creativity and entrepreneurial outlook
