Survey Assistant job in Uganda

Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is responsi¬ble for bulk purchase of electricity from the generating companies and selling the electricity in bulk to the distribution companies throughout Uganda. UETCL is also responsible for all exports and imports of electricity to Uganda.
UETCL is looking for suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the vacant positions on the Organisation Structure and contribute to the mission of the Company while fulfilling their career ambitions.
Description: The position, located at the Company Head Office, reports to Senior Surveyor: its primary purpose is to carry out field and office survey measurements for production of maps, drawings and entry into the Geographical Information System (GIS).

Key Result Areas • Capture Survey data including field survey measurements, digitizing and processing the data to produce drawings. • Set out routes of new transmission lines and diversions of existing lines/ routes. • Line route selection. • Data storage, retrieval, update, analysis and supply for management decision support. • Monitor the condition and use of the Units’ tools and equipment. • Participate in the processes of land acquisition for the Company’s developments in accordance with the Land Act 1998, other statutory instruments and corporate guidelines. • Data handling – Data entry and processing in a Geographical Information System (GIS), printing: annotating, and delivery of maps/ drawings. • To prepare reports to the Senior. Surveyor. * • And also to carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

The desired person should have the following essential requirements. • Diploma in Surveying or equivalent. • Two (2) years’ experience working with Surveyors in a reputable organisation or Survey firm. • Must have good supervisory and interpersonal skills. • Must be computer literate with working knowledge of AUTOCAD and GIS software. • Must possess a valid National Driving permit. • Must be able to withstand stressful work situations and have willingness to work long hours outside the normal hours. • A person of integrity, highly motivated, Innovative and a committed team player

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND REMUNERATION For the positions mentioned above: • Appointments are on a five (5) year contracts renewable based on performance • Attractive remuneration packages that are competitive
