Project Manager - Uganda (Abroad)


Our Client is a privately owned international logistics, construction, procurement and facilities management provider. They are specialists in providing their services in post conflict, remote and arduous environments.

Evolving from early roots inAfricaover 40 years ago, our client has substantial experience providing integrated solutions and delivering comprehensive projects in post conflict zones and developing countries and remote locations worldwide.

Headquartered in Dubai, they began serving clients in Afghanistanin 2002 and in the years since has grown into a large multifaceted firm, employing over 1,000 staff from 27 different nations. Today they manage projects in such locations as Sudan, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Chad, Ugandaand Somalia.

They are currently seeking a Project Manager with a construction related background for a new project inEntebbe,Uganda. The contract is initially for 12 months with extensions depending upon performance.

Reporting into the Project Director and Country Manager forUganda, the successful candidate will create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. You will also identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.

Specifically you will manage the day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope, review deliverables prepared by the team before passing to the client, will apply our clients methodology and will enforce project standards.

You will prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures, minimize our clients exposure and risk on projects and will ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

You will track and report team hours and expenses on a weekly basis and will manage the project budget.

You will determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing and will monitor receivables for the project.

You will follow up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices and will analyze project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization.

You will manage the day-to-day client interaction, set and manage client expectations and will develop lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client ties.

You will communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and will continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.

You will build a knowledge base of each clients business, organization and objectives.

You will facilitate team and client meetings effectively and will hold regular status meetings with the project team.

You will keep the project team well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news.

You will effectively communicate relevant project information to superiors.

You will deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.

You will resolve and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.

Of graduate calibre, you will be an accomplished Facilities Management Project Manager and / or Logistics Project Manager with experience of working in remote sites, post conflict areas or in other arduous environments.

Your practical experience should ideally be supported by an MBA or some industry standard qualification in project management, FM or logistics.

A military background would be particularly useful as would experience of working with the UN.

Some knowledge of construction, building and engineering maintenance is essential.

You should have excellent project management and people management kills and be able to work independently when required and have sound judgement in decision making.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.
