Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is a statutory
organisation established by the Uganda Tourist Board Statute 1994. The Board’s
mandate is to promote and popularise Uganda as a viable holiday destination
both locally and internationally in order to:

Increase
the contribution of tourism earnings and GDP
·
Improve
Uganda’s competitiveness as an international tourism destination
·
Increase
Uganda’s share of Africa’s and World tourism market.
Job
Summary: The ICT Officer will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Information
and Communications Technologies (ICT) infrastructures, systems, and solutions
for Uganda Tourism Board in line with the strategic plan in place and global
technological trends.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Manage
the use of all ICT systems and ensure that they follow national, regional and
international standards.
·
The
incumbent will also be responsible for the preparation of Annual Operations
plans/Budgets for the ICTU.
·
Write
and submit quarterly reports to the Duty CEO about the performance of the unit.
·
Process
timely and accurate data required for management decision-making,
·
Improve
Service delivery and management efficiency and effectiveness by modernizing the
ICT systems.
·
In
charge of developing guidelines and procedures for data storage, retrieval and
dissemination as well as security and integrity of the client-server database
systems.
·
Ensure
that Service Level Agreements are renewed in time so that service delivery is
not interrupted.
·
Mentor
and supervise the unit staff and to make sure that all is well with the
available systems.
·
Initiate
procurements of ICT equipment, software applications, and systems for the
organization.
·
Coordinate
systems implementation, maintenance, and support.
·
Perform
any other duties as shall be assigned to him/her.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
·
The
ideal candidate for the ICT Officer vacancy should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
degree in computer science or information systems from a recognized
University/Institution.
·
At
least five years of practical experience in an environment with shared
resources (peer-to-peer or client-server LANs and wide Area Networks (WAN).
·
Working
knowledge of Internetworking tools more especially an understanding of the
TCP/IP protocol.
·
Prior
exposure and experience in disaster recovery procedures, troubleshooting in
both software and hardware problems.
