The International Organization for Migration

(IOM), established in 1951, is the leading international intergovernmental

organization dealing with migration.  IOM

works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote

international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for

practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian

assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced

people. The IOM, acting as implementing partner for the European Commission, is

seeking to recruit a number of local staff for support functions assigned to

the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) in Uganda.


Job

Summary:
The Deputy

Chief Observer Assistant will primarily ensure the effective and efficient

functioning of the office and work in liaison with internal partners/agencies

to ensure efficient flow of information and actions on instructions. Some of

the essential job functions will include the arrangement of appointments and

meetings, contacting and liaising with high ranking representatives and

officials, acting as interpreter and/or taking minutes as and when required,

follow up of deadlines and commitments made, preparation of informal

translations and any other duties assigned by the Deputy/Chief Observer.


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 


·        
The

ideal candidate for the IOM Deputy Chief Observer Assistant job opportunity

should hold a  degree or appropriate

higher education qualification  


·        
A

minimum of three years’ experience (preferably with International Organizations

or NGOs in the related field


·        
All candidates

should be non-partisan


·        
Excellent

command of both written and spoken English


·        
Excellent

analytical and drafting skills


·        
Computer

literacy i.e. familiar with MS Windows, Excel and Outlook.


·        
Willingness

and flexibility to work in an environment with an intensive workload


·        
Candidates

must be willing to work flexible hours and be able to perform under tight

deadlines.


·        
Fluency

in any other local language would be an asset.
