Gulu University is a Public University

established by Statutory Instrument No. 16 of 2003. The University was set to

serve as a launch pad for equitable development in Uganda providing knowledge

and skills and stimulating innovations in education, technology, economic

advancement and social development. The University is located in Gulu

Municipality with branches in Lira, Kitgum and Hoima districts.


Job

Summary:
The Deputy

University Secretary deputises for the University Secretary to provide

effective leadership and coordinate the general administrative functions of the

University.


Key

Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Supports

the University Secretary in policy formulation and general administration of

the University;


·        
Supports

the University Secretary in drafting memoranda to Council and its Committees.


·        
Organises

meetings for Council and its committee;


·        
Guides

and offers advice to University Management in respect to implementation of

Council policies and recommendations;


·        
Provides

corporate services in support of the effective governance of the University


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 


·        
The

ideal candidate should preferably hold a Master of Arts (Public Administration)

and a Post Graduate Training in Education OR Master of Education and Post Graduate

Training in Management OR Master of Arts (Education Management and

Administration) from a recognised institution of higher learning.


·        
Also,

the incumbent must hold a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Education, Social

Science, Public Administration from a recognized Institution of Higher

learning.


·        
A

minimum of eight years’ relevant managerial administrative experience in a

reputable organization/institution, 4 (four) of which must have been served

after acquisition of the Masters degree;


·        
Strong

leadership, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills;


·        
Proven

ability to apply specialized computer skills relevant to the post;


·        
Age: Between 45-55 years

work experience, present salary (if any),and the names of three referees with their

respective addresses. Applicants should make sure that at least two referees

forward their recommendations to the University Secretary before the closing

date for receipt of applications.
