The Elizabeth

Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) seeks to end pediatric HIV/AIDS

through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. We are a

global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS, working in 15

countries and at 7,000 sites around the world to prevent the transmission of

HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today, because of the

highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners over the last 25

years, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States and

new infections in children have declined by 58% worldwide. EGPAF Uganda Country

program is currently implementing a number of projects in partnership with

various donors.


About USAID RHITES Project:


The Elizabeth

Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) implements the USAID Regional Health

Integration to Enhance Health Services in the South West Uganda Project

(RHITES) whose aim is to increase the availability, accessibility and quality

of integrated health services including HIV and TB prevention, care and

treatment; maternal, neonatal and child health services; family planning;

nutrition assessment, counseling support; malaria prevention and treatment and

other primary carer services.


Job Summary:  The Finance Assistant will be responsible for

the disbursement of funds to various recipients for direct program

implementation in the districts supported by the RHITES SW project and

submitting well supported and authentic paperwork. The Finance Assistant will

also ensure the timely and accurate reporting of RHITES -SW financial and

accounting information.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Work closely with the program officers, support the

District Health Officer and/or designated district health office staff in

developing budgets and quarterly cash requests.


·        
Ensure swift disbursement of funds for program

activities and ensure that all requests rhyme with the district approved work

plans and budgets.


·        
Actively participate in monitoring of the

implementation of the project-funded activities and ensure that these get

implemented in line with the agreed upon implementation plan.


·        
Work closely with the Senior Finance Officer, he /

she will track monthly advances to the project staff and district teams.


·        
Prepare quarterly activity financial reports for

various Districts.


·        
Prepare other regular financial reports,

spreadsheets and correspondence as required


·        
Capturing accounting data into accounting system

with speed and accuracy.


·        
Plan, organise and manage own workload to ensure

your contribution to the Organisations monthly financial reporting process is

achieved in a timely and accurate manner.


·        
Provide financial support to the team members and

resolution of finance related queries.


·        
Perform any other duties that may be deemed

appropriate for this role as assigned by the Finance Officer.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The ideal candidate for the USAID RHITES Finance

Assistant vacancy should hold a Diploma in Accounting and Finance from a

reputable institution. An additional certification in the related field will be

of an added advantage.


·        
At least two years’ experience in a similar position,

preferably with a USAID funded agency or non-governmental organization.


·        
Prospective candidates should have experience

working with Local Government partners and knowledge of their operations.


·        
Excellent analytical ability and skills


·        
Excellent communication and listening skills.


·        
Strong skills in teamwork, networking, facilitation,

oral and written communication


·        
Working knowledge and experience in using Quick

Books accounting package. Good level of competence in Excel, Word and Outlook.


·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of accounting

processes and procedures.


·        
Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and

deadlines.


·        
Willingness to travel to the project districts up to

60% of the month.


·        
Knowledge of local languages will be an added

advantage.
