In 1996,

Action Africa Help International (AAIN) became Aktion Africa Hilfe e. V (AAH)

and was registered in Munich, Germany from where our founders in 2003 moved the

organisation’s headquarters to Kenya. AAH-I now works with refugees, host

communities and other marginalized and vulnerable groups in Kenya, Uganda,

Somalia and South Sudan, where it operates across a range of sectors that seek

to bridge relief to development.


Action Africa

Help Uganda (AAH Uganda) has been receiving funding from the United Nations

High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to implement programmes in the Districts

of Hoima (Kyangwali Refugee Settlement), Adjumani District and Kampala.


Job

Summary:
The Nutrition Nurse will offer support in the management of nutrition-related

health cases through supporting patients, guiding parents on nutrition and

working with the Nutritionist to ensure improved awareness and proper

management of malnutrition cases.


Key

Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Support admission and discharge of malnutrition

cases following properly laid down standards


·        
Prepare and support the feeding of malnutrition

patients under observation in the paediatric wards


·        
In charge of case management of malnourished

patients and ensure that all routine medication is administered appropriately


·        
Build the capacity and advise

in-patients/parents/guardians on proper care and nutrition at home


·        
Conduct home visits as a follow up on discharged

patients to ensure adherence to advise


·        
Weigh and take height of children under the age of

five to monitor and ensure early detection of malnutrition cases


·        
Ensure all malnourished children have child health

cards and that their immunization is up to date


·        
Ensure all stored food is safe and free from

contamination


·        
Ensure the kitchen and surrounding environment is

clean, hygienic and well maintained


·        
Periodically participate in community outreaches

to promote nutrition awareness


·        
Prepare and send mal-nutrition reports from both

inpatient and outpatient departments


·        
Perform any other duties as assigned by the

supervisor


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 


·        
The applicant for the UNHCR AAH Nutrition Nurse career

vacancy should hold an Advanced Certificate in Nutrition Management, a

Certificate in Nursing or a related field


·        
One year of experience in a similar or higher

position.


·        
Previous experience in nursing


·        
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills


·        
Excellent command of both written and spoken

English


·        
Patient and of a pleasant character


·        
Excellent presentation skills


·        
Ability to capacity build and develop others


·        
Proven ability to mobilize different audiences
