The Makerere

University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non-profit HIV research program

that was established in 2002 as a result of a memorandum of understanding

between Makerere University and The Henry M. Jackson foundation for Advancement

of Military Medicine Inc. of USA (HJF). The primary purpose of MUWRP is to

develop, evaluate and provide interventions to mitigate disease threats of

public health importance to Uganda. Activities include; vaccine development and

building of vaccine testing capability in Uganda, conducting of epidemiological

and basic research and provision of HIV Treatment, care and support in Kayunga,

Mukono and Buvuma Districts.


Job

Summary:
  The Continuous Quality

Improvement Coordinator will offer technical support to the MUWRP PEPFAR

program to provide capacity building and mentorship to health workers in

districts supported by MUWRP to develop and implement quality improvement

activities.


Key

Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
The incumbent will develop and implement a

systematic data quality audit plan and conduct data quality checks to inform

quality of the HIV care and treatment program including TB.


·        
Regularly analyze district program activities to

identify CQI gaps and generate program improvement activities.


·        
Establish and support operationalization of CQI

teams at facility and district level.


·        
Develop and monitor implementation of program

quality improvement measures


·        
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to

health facilities for CQI and systems improvement.


·        
Support sites to understand flow charts and

process analysis for system improvement.


·        
Support the sites to identify creative and

innovative ways of capturing, presenting and utilizing data for program

improvement.


·        
Prepare and submit quarterly progress reports

highlighting CQI and system improvement areas addressed, technical assistance

needs, lessons learnt and best practices.


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 


·        
The applicants for this job opportunity should

preferably hold a Degree in Medicine and Registered with the Dental and Medical

Practitioners Council


·        
A minimum of three years’ experience working with

HIV/TB programs


·        
Prior experience in capacity building through

mentorship and providing technical assistance


·        
Demonstrated ability to think creatively and

strategically to recommend program process and systems improvements.


·        
Ability to recognize and address potential gaps

and challenges before they become problematic.


·        
Strong desire to see efforts through a process of

change to successful completion.


·        
Excellent written and verbal communication skills


·        
Experience working on a clinical research setting

will be of an added advantage.


·        
Ability to work and live in a rural setting and to

travel on water
