UWESO NGO Vacancies - Management Accountant


Reports to: Head of OperationsUWESO has a volunteer membership of over 20,000 people.  This volunteer structure provides the basis for mobilization of communities to participate and share responsibilities in improving the quality of life for orphans and other vulnerable children in Uganda.Job Summary: The Management Accountant will be responsible for generating timely and accurate internal reports to management for effective decision making and conduct budgeting while ensuring that budgetary controls are in place and costs are minimized.Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Ensure prompt and effective accounting and management of revenue/cashCompile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.Receive and review income analysis reports from UWESO entitiesIntuitively review posting of all journal entries and check them to ensure proper transaction allocations in the General LedgerReview and/or prepare daily, weekly and monthly cash returnsMonitor the budget lines to ensure that all activities are in line with annual budgetsSupport heads of departments in preparing and reviewing budgetsEnsure timely closure of books of accounts in preparation for the audit processEstablish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control proceduresOversee subordinates and ensure a competent and motivated teamMake periodic field visits to provide technical assistance to Regional Accountants to ensure that work is done according to set policies and proceduresActively take part in the preparation of the annual reportQualifications, Skills and Experience:The ideal candidate should possess a good Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance and Accounting option), Business Administration (Finance and Accounting option) or equivalentProfessional accounting certification like Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA)At least three years’ experience in similar post in a reputable organizationPossess the ability to use financial and accounting software applications (Navision)Should be a team player.Proven ability to work with minimum supervision.High degree of personal integrity.Excellent Analytical & Report writing skills.Ability to attend to detail, focus on quality and spot errors or mistakes at an early stageAll suitably qualified candidates are requested to submit their applications with certified copies of academic transcripts, detailed CVs with salary history, contact addresses of 3 work related referees to the Human Resource Officer, Uganda Womens Effort to Save Orphans, Plot 2 Tagore Crescent, Kamwokya, P.O. UWESO NGO Careers - Farm Extension Officer


Duty Station: Wakiso, Uganda
Reports to:
Administrator MCVUWESO received a grant from the Government of Belgium under its Belgium Survival Fund wamounting to US$ 1.45 Million, this fund was administered through IFAD to implement the UWESO Development Project for orphans and their families in the UWESO Core Districts of Mbarara, Masaka, Lira Kumi and Soroti.  This project offered primary school scholarships and vocational training for orphans and also supported income-generating activities for orphan families and community volunteers who take care of orphans.Job Summary: The Farm Extension Officer will support MCV make better decisions to increase agricultural production

Key Duties and Responsibilities: ·         Support in the Development and Preparation of currently unused land for farming purposes
Manage the growing, harvesting and storage of food production·         Together with other farm employees carry out practical activities e.g. feeding livestock and poultry, spraying fields, spraying the animals and birds·         Initiate the need for the supplies for the farm such as animal drugs, fertilizers, seeds·         Assist in the treatment of animal and crop diseases.·         Ensure economic use of farm land·         Arranging the maintenance and repair of farm buildings, machinery and equipment·         Maintaining and monitoring the quality of produce, both livestock and crop·         Understanding the implication of weather and making contingency plans for both the animals and crops.·         Keeping farm records up to date-including animal health, yields, sales, incomes and expenditure

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:·         At least a Diploma in Agriculture.
At least two years relevant experience in the same position

The Head of ProgramsUWESO has a volunteer membership of over 20,000 people.  This volunteer structure provides the basis for mobilization of communities to participate and share responsibilities in improving the quality of life for orphans and other vulnerable children in Uganda.Job Summary: The M&E Officer shall be responsible for coordinating the monitoring and evaluation activities of UWESO program activities, focusing specifically on data collection systems for measuring project implementation, quality assurance, documentation and reporting. The position oversees implementation of M and E activities in accordance with guidelines stipulated by the funding agencies and regularly updates project staff on progress towards implementation of the work plan and designing methods for demonstrating program outcome and impact. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Offers overall coordination of UWESO M&E activities, facilitates and monitors the implementation of projects
Manages and executes M&E activities included in the annual work plan, with particular focus on results, impacts and lesson learn·         Ensures that appropriate data collection tools and systems are in place and collects required data.·         Identifies monitoring and evaluation needs for projects and provides Technical Assistance (through training, mentorship etc) or coordinate its provision.·         Oversees and guides the MIS and project databases.
Actively participates in research design, implementation and reporting
Compile and prepares monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated UWESO progress reports for project management·         Conducts supervisory visits to regions

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:·         Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics/ Quantitative Economics.·         Skills in Project Planning and Management, Management Information Systems are an added advantage.·         Three or more years’ experience in similar post
