Project manager – food security and livelihoods (Kitgum office)

NRC is seeking to recruit a Ugandan national to fi ll the vacancy of Project Manager – Food Security and Livelihoods. NRC is looking for a vibrant, mature, visionary and experienced person who can step into a very dynamic programme setting and keep the pace. A professional who instills confi dence, is able to quickly establish an overview and not least work closely with a dedicated team of staff, as well as with other stakeholders.

Job summary
The Project Manager Food Security & Livelihoods will have the main responsibility for the overall strategic development, continuous contextual relevance of programming and implementation of the Food Security & Livelihoods Programme in Northern Uganda. The Project Manager Food Security & Livelihoods will report to the NRC Uganda Country Director. Key tasks and responsibilities

Manages fully the programme portfolio in accordance with NRC’s policies and donors’ guidelines
Contributes to the development of overall and Food Security and Livelihoods specifi c strategies and action plans

Contributes to on-going advocacy work related to programme priorities

Ensures sound fi nancial management of approved budgets

Is responsible for preparing applications and budgets to relevant donors

Prepares frequent reports for Country Management, NRC Oslo, and donors

Provides direction, motivating support and supervision to the Food Security and Livelihoods staff

Ensures performance management processes for Food Security and Livelihoods staff

Minimum qualifications and skills
 Degree in Agriculture, Social Sciences or other relevant discipline

At least fi ve years operational experience with programme management and development with an international NGO or UN

Experience in working with an integrated food security and livelihoods programme

Proven experience in strategic and critical thinking

Experience in a displacement related programme is an added advantage

Background in community participation approach

Proven planning skills, experience in development of proposals, report writing and ability to prepare manageable work plans and to evaluate progress

Sound financial and personnel management skills

Sound communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

Significant understanding of post-conflict situations

Computer skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and SPSS
