Chief Finance Manager
To Plan, direct, control and coordinate all the operations of the department to ensure the set objectives are achieved in a timely and professional manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Oversee the preparation of the Group’s annual budget and advise top management in strategic financial planning and decision making
2. Initiate and guide the preparation of forecasts of company revenue, working capital, expenditure and return on investment.
3. Oversee the accounts and finance department as well as stores and IT department. Oversee and ensure that Microsoft Navision ERP is effectively used across the company
4. Coordinate the set up, updating and enforcement of cost accounting; treasury management; risk and taxation and receivables policies and procedures
5. Measure cost effectiveness of Group’s core activities
6. Oversee group accounting as to ensure that the accounts are prepared in line with provisions of International Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards.(IFRS)
7. Approve payments to suppliers in line with the Group’s financial procedures.
8. Monitor the Group’s corporate liquidity through regular and accurate cash projections
9. Oversee tax planning, computation and payment of all taxes including import and export duties, corporate tax, VAT tax, PAYE among others
10. Liaising with the Tax officials in connection with audits and assessments of Taxations. Liaise with Tax consultants with regard to Tax Appeal Matters.
11. Liaising with Bank Officials, Insurance officials in connection with the Financial and Insurance needs of the group.
12. Perusal of all Loan agreements with the bank and insurance policies with the Insurance Company.
Appraise performance of team membersAny other duties assigned by the management.
Work conditions
1. The work may involve constant movements to different locations out of office.
2. May require working for long hours.
3. May be required on call.
4. Place of Stay and work – Uganda / Kenya as per need of the company
Decision Making Authority & Responsibility
The Chief Finance Manager has full authority delegated by the Group COO as per the requirements, duties and responsibility of the job.
Physical and Mental effort
1. Must be mentally stable to contain stress and pressure.
2. Must be of a sound mind.
3. Good visibility since most times work will be done on computers.
4. Sensory stability due to much concentration required for the job.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. Computerized accounting programs
2. ERP knowledge is MUST [Microsoft Navision would be an added advantage].
3. Accounts payable and accounts Receivable knowledge.
4. Generally accepted accounting principles
5. Supervisory skills
6. Team Building Skills
7. Accounting and book keeping skills
8. Decision making skills
9. Effective verbal and listening communication skills
10. Effective written communication skills
11. Stress Management skills
12. High level of honesty and respect
13. Demonstration of sound work ethics
14. Bachelor of Commerce and other related finance disciplines
15. Membership to a professional accounting body: ACCA, CFA and CPA.
16. Over 5 years experience in similar role. (Preferably 3 years at East Africa).
