The Standard Group comprises, The Standard Newspapers, Game Yetu, The Counties, The Nairobian, KTN, Radio Maisha, PDS, Standard Digital and Think Outdoor Services.The Group is looking for highly motivated, qualified, experienced and reputable team players in house, to fill the following position:News Readers – Radio MaishaTo organize the news flow and read news; and to source, collect, write and submit stories/reportsand articles within set deadlines so as to inform, entertain and educate our listeners.To select broadcast copies from the news pool, update and re-angle stories in consultation with the news editor and load the news flowTo deliver news products in an authoritative manner that adheres to the Station’s house-style, and thereby raises ratings.To go out on assignments given by the Editor, take notes, carry out interviews, check out facts and submit stories within set deadlinesTo research and collect background information required to make stories complete, topical, informative, credible and analyticalTo write and process the stories collected and to read back to ensure that they are balanced, properly presented, free of error and in line with laid down editorial policy and house-styleWriting and delivering news scripts on timeTo keep the Editor informed of work progress, any problems encountered and areas where he may require assistance and/or facilitation to complete assignments within the agreed deadlinesTo identify areas of improvement / development in daily news reporting and to make appropriate recommendations to the Editor.University Degree in journalismDiploma in Radio Production3 years’ experience in News Reading on RadioA good grasp of English and Kiswahili language – both written and spokenThe Standard Group is an equal opportunity employer and as such, canvassing of any form will lead toautomatic disqualification
