MMU Field Engagement Consultant, 6 month contract, East Africa. Fantastic opportunity to join an International Mobile Telecoms Organisation and work on exciting Mobile Money for the Unbanked Programme (MMU). The goal of MMU is to provide mobile money services to unbanked people who are living on sub $2 per day. Furthermore, to make mobile money a successful, scalable and sustainable business for mobile mobile network operators. MMU works closely with key industry bodies (regulatory bodies and financial institutions)as well as a number of mobile network operators who have the opportunity to make the biggest impact within the mobile money space. MMU works to accelerate the success of mobile money deployments by conducting research, identifying best practices and ensuring these learnings are appropriately packaged and shared with the industry.

The right candidate will join a dynamic, high performing team from strong financial services, telecommunications and strategy consulting backgrounds. You will have :
* Experience of working with mobile money deployments in the developing world. Alternatively, you will have experience of working in the mobile telecoms industry and / or financial services, with expertise in marketing, product development, distribution management, paired with professional experience in the developing world
* Able to grasp new concepts and ideas
* Excellent communicator, able to express complex technical, commercial or regulatory issues in plain language without losing the important points
* Excellent cultural awareness and a desire to work with teams around the world
* A demonstrated ability to rapidly embed themselves into a new working environment and understand its dynamics, forge productive relationships, and start delivering resultsincluding by leveraging strong influencing skills
* Excellent relationship management skills at an executive level

Responsibilities will include :
* Work with the MMU Management team and the MNOs mobile money team to develop a detailed operational workplan, through which MMUs key recommendations for how to enhance the mobile money deployment will be effectively delivered
* Translate technical expertise from the MMU Management team, to ensure best practices are implemented effectively within the MNOs mobile money deployment
* Project manage the engagement to ensure that it is delivered on time and within budget
* Develop deep professional relationships with the MNOs mobile money team and key MNO stakeholders, in order to effectively support and influence the success of the specific deployment
* Report regularly on progress to the MMU Management team and highlight key lessons from each project as they emerge.
