Financial Controller for a Non-Profit Organization

We are looking for a leader who can inspire staff, maintaining the team spirit that exists throughout our organization, while conducing and monitoring all financial matters in an ethical and professional manner. The Financial Controller must be thoroughly competent in cash management, accounting, and financial reporting and have the ability to balance the program and financial needs of the organization.

Responsibilities of this position include:

* Working collaboratively with the International Business Director to insure financial integrity and strength that supports the overall growth of the organization.
* Working with the Uganda Office Deputy Director to provide financial oversight of all program areas.
* Understanding the details of our Bead for Life programs as well as the overarching strategy and goals and looking for innovative ways to improve.
* Managing the daily finance and accounting needs of our Uganda offices, including Accounts receivable/payable, Payroll, Bank reconciliations, Cash management and General Ledger oversight.
* Positively managing finance team members to carry out day-to-day responsibilities, guiding them to grow professionally and personally.
* Establishing and implementing effective financial procedures with strong internal controls for all Uganda offices and insuring compliance
* Preparing monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements, along with results review and summary
* Compiling and monitoring annual budget, working with program staff to create and manage budgets effectively
* Leading annual external audit.
* Working with the Inventory Team to accurately track and value all inventory.

Specific qualifications include:
* Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
* A minimum of 5 years of finance/accounting experience in the above roles
* C.P.A. Certification or equivalent training or experience
* Outstanding communications skills, especially across cultures and continents
* Ability to effectively manage a small team
* Expertise with QuickBooks or other accounting software and Microsoft Office (Excel)
* Cost accounting and manufacturing knowledge preferred
* Outstanding organizational and analytical skills, especially the ability to assess and troubleshoot finance and information issues
* Flexibility and adaptability
* Experience implementing and overseeing guidance of internal controls
* Background in poverty eradication, income generation, microfinance, or small business is helpful
