Job Summary: The Dean of

Students shall be responsible for the welfare of students.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The

    incumbent will be responsible for the organization and control of Halls of

    Residence, supervision of Hall Wardens and shall take interest in matters

    relating to nonresident students

  • Responsible

    for enforcing University rules and regulations and all matters related to

    students’ discipline

  • The

    incumbent will play a key role in establishing and monitoring channels of

    Communication with regard to students’ welfare and suggestions with a view

    to giving students the necessary advice

  • Responsible

    for matters related to operations of the students Guild and offer

    appropriate advice and guidance

  • Guide

    on Students’ Publications and ensure that they conform to the acceptable

    standards

  • Guide

    on the organization and running of Sports and Games with the assistance of

    the Game Tutors

  • Work

    closely with the University Bursar to prepare Annual Estimates and

    Expenditure of Halls of Residence, Sports and Games, all entertainment and

    other requirements for submission to the Finance, Planning, Administration

    and Investment Committee

  • Responsible

    for all matters related to Students’ Health

  • Work

    closely with the Counselling and Guidance Centre with a view to giving Students

    appropriate advice

  • Work

    in collaboration with University Chaplains and Imam on all policies

    related to the organization and arrangement of places of Worship

  • The

    incumbent will ensure proper functioning of the Students Welfare and

    Disciplinary Committee of Council

  • Be

    the Secretary to the Students Welfare and Disciplinary Committee of

    Council

  • Perform

    any other related duties that may be assigned by the Vice Chancellor as

    and when deemed necessary


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The

    Dean of Students should be a Ugandan citizen with an Honours Bachelor’s Degree

    from a recognized Institution and a Master Degree or an equivalent

    professional qualification from a recognized Institution of higher

    learning.

  • A

    minimum of ten years working experience, five (5) of which must be at

    Senior Management Level from a Reputable Organisation.

  • Past

    experience in working with Students in a University or similar Institution

    will be an added advantage.

  • The

    incumbent must be industrious and self driven

  • Must

    be ready to work under stress for long hours

  • High

    degree of integrity

  • Computer

    literacy skills

  • Age: Below 55 years
