Restless

Development is an international non-profit organization which is embarking on

becoming the global banner carrier for youth-led development; demonstrating at

the grassroots and policy levels that young people can and must play a lead

role in development. Over the past five years, Restless Development has more

than tripled the size of its budgets and programmes, and has been repeatedly

cited as a model of best practice in youth-led development by the World Bank,

DFID, UNICEF and others.


About Youth Internship Programme:


Over the two

years, the Internship programme has equipped 150 young graduates (ages 23-30)

with employability, entrepreneurship and leadership skills combined with the

practical experience necessary to work, lead, and contribute to development efforts.


Job Summary:  The Assistant Programme Coordinator (APC) will

support our Youth Internship programme and our alumni network activities. The

APC will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the youth internship programme,

ensuring that all objectives are achieved. The incumbent will also take lead in

programme implementation, working closely with the Programme Manager and

Programme Officer. S/he will ensure regular support is provided to the young

people and host employers participating in the programme. S/he will also

monitor project progress, enabling timely reporting to donors.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


1.

Programme design & implementation: 50%


·        
Deliver training events and coordinate exposure

visits


·        
The incumbent will plan and lead site visits to

employers to review the progress of each intern hosted, including discussion

and resolution of any challenges


·        
The job holder will also plan and lead debrief at

the end of each cycle of internships with interns and host employers, including

career fair


·        
Coordinate the documentation of a business case of

the internship programme


·        
Steer the coordination of dissemination events to

share programme learning


·        
Manage and provide direction to the coordination of

alumni network initiatives


·        
Design and oversee ongoing career guidance and job

placement support for interns and alumni.


2.

Monitoring & Reporting: 20%


·        
Provide regular written and verbal reports tracking

progress against the work plan and implementation schedules


·        
The job holder will also administer M&E tools

(e.g. KAP and follow-up surveys etc.) and support analysis of data collected to

ensure continual programme improvement


·        
Technically support the coordination of the final

programme evaluations


·        
Lead develop development of donor reports and unit

monthly progress reports


3.

Financial Planning & Management: 15%


·        
Manage and monitor the programme budget with support

of the Programme Manager and finance team


·        
The incumbent will also ensure that all funds are

accounted for on time and accompanied by the required documentation enabling

accurate and timely reporting


·        
Prepare and submit financial reports with support of

the Programme Manager and finance team


·        
Uphold financial policy and procedure


4.

Partnership Support: 10%


·        
Build and strengthen effective working relationships

with programme stakeholders, in particular host employers and interns


·        
Coordinate partnership events and activities to

raise the profile of the programme and secure leverage and other commitments of

support


·        
Oversee the development and dissemination of

communication materials about the programme, including case studies and news

letter


5.

Other: 5%
Perform any other duties as required. Occasionally working on weekends

and holidays for which time off in lieu can be taken.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The Restless Development Assistant Programme

Coordinator Youth Internship Programme should hold a Degree in relevant field

of study


·        
At least two to three years’ experience in programme

design and implementation,  including

proven experience relating to youth livelihoods and employment


·        
Excellent written and verbal communication skills


·        
Excellent numeracy skills, with experience in budget

management


·        
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make

sound operational decisions quickly


·        
Previous experience of developing and delivering

interactive training for young people


·        
Past exposure and experience of mentoring and/or

providing career guidance to young people


·        
Prior experience of compiling project reports for

external audiences, including donors and other stakeholders


·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of contemporary development

issues, particularly those related to youth livelihoods and employment


·        
Past experience of supporting youth volunteering,

internship and/ apprenticeship programmes is desired


·        
Prior exposure of working in and/or engaging the

private sector will be an added advantage


·        
Previous experience of working in a youthful,

multi-cultural environment is desired


·
