Limited is Uganda’s leading manufacturer of quality clay baked construction

products since 1950 and is listed on the Uganda’s Securities Exchange. The head

offices are located at 14Km on Entebbe Road, with a second factory situated at

Kamonkoli in Eastern Uganda.


Job Summary: The Health,

Safety and Environment Officer will be tasked with developing and setting a

strategic direction for preventing and reducing health, safety and regulatory

risks by leading the health and safety team in developing and maintaining key

Health Safety & Environment programs, providing deep functional expertise

to build capability across the company and leading self-verification programs.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
The incumbent will manage the development and

implementation of Health, Safety and Environment management system in all of

Uganda Clays’ locations


·        
Ensure that all employees are informed of the safety

issues pertaining to their roles and fully equipped to operate in a safe and

environmentally responsible fashion.


·        
Actively monitor and manage the disposal of Uganda

Clays waste material in an efficient manner so as to ensure that the working

and surrounding environment is not affected or damaged.


·        
The incumbent will coordinate the team’s activities

and to provide administrative support to ensure efficient and effective

provision of support services as they relate to the section.


·        
Participate in fire prevention and promotion of the

safety of employees, clients, visitors, and property, at Uganda Clays.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The Health, Safety and Environment Officer should

hold a Bachelor’s degree in Science particularly in Occupational Safety,

Environmental science, Industrial Hygiene


·        
Additional Certification in QA/QC or Industrial

Safety


·        
Possession of a Post-graduate training in Health

& Safety


·        
Training in Security Management


·        
A minimum of three years’ experience in health,

safety and management


·        
Ability to enforce compliance with required health

safety and environmental standards


·        
Ability to work independently or as part of a team


·        
Discretion and respect for confidentiality and privacy


·        
High degree of integrity and honesty.
