It conducts large-scale epidemiological and intervention studies, clinical trials, virological and immunological research and behavioural studies, clinical trials, virological and immunological research and behavioural studies, and has generated a wealth of research results that have been used to inform policy and practice, and that have led to a large number of scientific publications in peer reviewed journals over time. The Unit based at Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) In Entebbe invites applications from suitably qualified current staff of MRC/UVRI to fill the position below.  To oversee the stores and good receipting functions of the MRC and enter all transactions In the Microsoft Dynamics System (MSD) and ensuring that SOPs are followed at all times. UETCL is also responsible for all exports and imports of electricity to Uganda. UETCL envisions: "To become a leading strategic business partner in the transmission and Single Buyer Business and to support sustainable energy development in Uganda"Job Summary: The Stores Officer will take charge of all Stores operations activities including issuing and receiving, deliveries, coordinating stock, documenting stores transactions, maintaining records, and overseeing storage of returned materials to the stores. The incumbent will also be tasked to keep the stores neat, well stacked and tidy at all times.Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Oversee the day-to-day operations of the stores function.Monitor and make physical and card balances.Ensure that stores procedures are fully understood and strictly adhered to.Ensure that all stores movements are properly authenticated and correctly recorded.Maintain appropriate stock levels.Highlight obsolete/slow moving items.Ensure stock- is stored in a safe and secure manner.Ensure the store is maintained in an orderly and clean condition at all times based on best practice.Prevent dangerous or careless practices in the lifting and shifting of heavy items.Implement safety/fire regulations in the stores.Compile and submit monthly reports of goods received and issued.Calculate both minimum and maximum order quantity.Mentor, supervise and develop staff in the store.Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The applicant should preferably hold a good Bachelor's (Hons) Degree in either Commerce or Business Administration or Accounting or Stores Management from a recognised University. .Possession of professional qualifications i.e. CPA (U), CPA (K), ACCA etc will be an added advantage.Past exposure and experience in Sun Accounting packages specifically Inventory & Purchase Order. Job Purpose:
The position exists to manage the stores process and ensure stores procedures are followed in the receipt, storage and issue of stocks

Education:
•    B.Com, BBA with Accounting or Finance options, Bachelors of Supplies & Post graduate Diploma of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply
•    A qualification in Stores Management will be an added advantage

Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant working experience in a reputable large organization

Knowledge & Skills
•    Must have extensive knowledge of stores and inventory management
•    Must have working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Sun-system accounting

Principal Accountabilities:
•    Issues materials against appropriately approved requisitions only.
•    Receives and stores safely all CAA materials and equipment to protect them against loss and damage
•    Advises the Stores controller on the status/ condition of stock
•    Ensures that the stores and shelves are maintained in clean and orderly condition daily
