Job Purpose:

The Operations Manager – Uganda will act as client manager for a number of Ugandan companies ; supporting and managing their business development needs. In addition , the Operations Manager will be responsible for functionally – focused projects that span a variety of clients and will manage the team of Programme and Project Managers ( including those on Tullow projects). The Operations Manager will work with the Country Director on new programme development and continuous improvement of existing programmes.

Responsibilities / Key Objectives:

Responsible for the continued development and roll out of the Skills Exchange and Mentoring programme to specific group of Client companies ( with the Country Director )Manage the Mentoring Programmes

- Liaison with client companies

- Reporting on outcomes of mentoring programmes

- Manage third party stakeholder relationship

Manage the Programme and Project Manager team in Uganda

- Agree annual targets

- Conduct annual appraisals

- Provide mentoring to these managers as necessary

Develop opportunities to partner with Private Sector / Development bodies across East Africa in the area of SME development.Research opportunities for B2B outside of the current scope of the Skills Exchange and Mentoring programmeManage Business Linkage missions to Ireland ( in coordination with the Dublin office )

Experience and Education:

Essential:

- A minimum of 10 years’ work experience within a private sector environment

- Significant experience of working in developing countries

Desirable:

- Degree level qualifications

- Functional skill in either Finance , Marketing, Operations or Sales

Skills:

- Project management

- Strong communication skills – both verbally and in written form

- Ability to influence at all levels – both direct and indirect engagement

- Proven track record of successful leadership and people management

BUSINESS BEHAVIOURS:

- Keep informed of news and developments in your area of operation and inform management of any issues that may affect our Client’s operations or reputations and / or make recommendations for improvements in efficiency or cost effectiveness of Our Client’s activities;

- Carry out any other duties that may be assigned by your supervisor or management.
