Organization: Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is a corporate body responsible for the regulation of Civil Aviation in Uganda. It manages Entebbe International Airport and 13 other aerodromes upcountry. CAA carries out its work in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS). The Authority now plans to recruit suitably qualified Ugandans of impeccable integrity and commitment to fill the following positions in its establishment.Job Summary: The Senior Electronics Technician will mainly ensure that all electronic security screening, surveillance and related Communication equipment at the airport and other aerodromes upcountry are in a good state of maintenance and repair.Key Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Preventive maintenance of Aerodrome equipment: Conducts regular technical inspection of electronic installations to ensure continued serviceability of PABX, FIDS, PA, walk talkies, CCTV, metal detectors, X-ray machines, Emergency Control Communication SystemsSteers the team of Technicians in carrying out day-to-day operations and organizing maintenance reports on log books and PC files.2. Preparation of Technical reports and calibration schedules for national radiation protection services: Compiles and prepares technical reports and calibration schedules for the National Radiation Protection Services.3. Facilitation of Procurement and spare parts for stocking and use: Determines requirements for spare parts and prepares purchase requisitions for consumables and other faulty components to procurement and follows up until deliveryEnsures that stock of Critical items is maintained at prescribed levels.4. Active participation in annual budgeting process: Actively participates in the compilation of the annual budget for electronics section and monitoring of its performance.5. Supervision of project implementations: Management of all sanctioned projects for electronics and other companies’ installations of electronic systems such as HF and UHF radios, PABX stations, CCTV microwave links and security machines.6. Maintenance of personnel and equipment safety standards: Ensures the existence and implementation of safety requirements for personnel and equipment in accordance with international standards.7. On the job staff training, knowledge and skill transfer: Responsible for on-the-job training of technicians and students in the section and making training needs assessment for new systems.8. Supervision of equipment installations and modifications: Supervises installation modifications of FIDS, PA, CCTV, PABX, X-ray machines, metal Detectors, Radios, walk-talkie, Explosive detectors, Crash Alarm and Emergency control communication systems.Arranges and supervises the calibration exercise of X-ray machines.Perform any other duties as delegated from time to time.Carries out any other assignments relevant to his/her job area that, may from time to time be delegated by the immediate supervisor or Manager Aerodrome Maintenance (MAM).Qualifications, Skills and Experience: The applicant should possess a relevant higher national diploma in either Electrical & Electronics engineering/ Telecommunications Engineering/ Computer engineering Three or more years’ experience OR an ordinary diploma with at least five years experience.The candidate must have demonstrable computer programming knowledge and skills.Must have strong relevant Job knowledge.All suitably qualified and interested candidates who desire to join the aviation industry should send their hand-written applications with detailed CV and copies of academic certificates plus transcripts with the Job reference number clearly marked at the top left hand corner of the envelope should be sent to the address below.
