Organization: Millennium Promise Alliance Inc Project Name: Drylands Integrated Development ProjectFunding Source: Islamic Development Bank (IDB)Reports to: Water and Sanitation Development SpecialistThe Government of Uganda through the Office of the Prime Minister has received credit financing from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), for the Dry Lands Integrated Development Project to be implemented in the Karamoja Sub region (Project reference number UG-0082-83). The Office of the Prime Minister will implement the Drylands Integrated Development Project through Millennium Promise Alliance Inc. an International Non-Profit Organisation solely committed to supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals through the Millennium Villages Projects (MVPs) in 10 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa. The Dry Lands Integrated Development Project will implement multi sectoral interventions aimed at holistically addressing challenges faced by pastoralist communities that directly contribute to the objective of reducing vulnerability, building resilience, and accelerating the achievements of the UN Millennium Development Goals mainly in the districts of Moroto, Napak, Nakapiripiriti and Amudat. Job Summary: The Water Facilitator will be responsible for field supervision of interventions designed to increase access to clean water and improved sanitation and irrigation and ensure sustainable management systems are put in place Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Carry out water resource and sanitation improvement needsActively participate in the recruitment of suitable consultants to design and/or supervise the water and sanitation developmentsSupervise irrigation development projectsWork with the hired consultants to ensure conformity with project guidelinesWork as a counterpart in mobilizing communities to contribute towards water and sanitation developmentsMake a reality the functionalization of a sustainable community-led operation and maintenance plans in all the WASH programsEnsure value for money is ensured in all water and sanitation developments.Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The candidate should possess an Ordinary Diploma in Water resources Engineering or Building and Civil Engineering or Agricultural Engineering with specialization in water Three or more years’ practical site experience on supervision or implementation of water and sanitation projects.Past exposure and experience in implementation of the various WASH programs.Past experience in implementation of the different Irrigation technicsComputer literacy in word processing, spreadsheetsPossess the ability to use Engineering drawing and drafting programs(Like Auto CAD, ArchiCAD) will be an added advantageGood and effective communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsExcellent problem solving skillsAbility to work well under pressureDemonstrated knowledge of Engineering site management skillsWillingness and ability to work and reside in the field for at least 90% of the timePossession of a motor cycle riding permit & good riding ability is a plusReadiness to ride a motorcycle for work is a mustKnowledge of the Karamoja working environment is a plusAll candidates are encouraged to apply by sending an application letter (in a sealed envelope clearly marked with ""APPLICATION FOR POSITION OF...""), curriculum vitae, three work related referees, copies of academic certificates, and testimonials either hand delivered or posted to this address: Millennium Promise Alliance Inc.
