Job Title: Procurement Manager
Living Goods (LG) seeks an energetic and resourceful Procurement Manager to oversee sourcing of consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and household technologies. We are a fast-paced, mission-driven organization with operations in East Africa and ambitions beyond. We are currently building a world-class team committed to achieving our goal of building a sustainable system to defeat the diseases of poverty. The Procurement Manager will manage LG’s supply chain – sourcing, negotiating, bidding and distributing products throughout the distribution network. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a dynamic, start-up environment.
Responsibilities
Oversee development and execution of procurement strategies to drive down costs, increase sales, minimize shrink and optimize inventory levels. The position will be responsible for setting up new domestic and international suppliers, managing all aspects including contracts, agreements and relationship management. Ideal candidate will set up better logistic streams, eliminating extensive lead times, improving all aspects of supplier performance through strategic partnership building. The position will also have responsibility for benchmarking, setting up metrics to measure results and monitoring supplier performance. Reporting to the Country Manager Uganda, the Procurement Manager will be the key member of the Uganda team.
Qualifications
– The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years success in sourcing management, preferably with major consumer goods businesses, and/or large wholesalers and/or importers.
– Expert negotiator with the ability to close complex deals.
– Experience identifying and developing new suppliers as well as contingency suppliers for multiple products.
– Strong financial management and analytical skills, highly proficient in spreadsheets.
– Significant experience with logistics and inventory management.
– Ability to manage multiple initiatives within a dynamic environment, prioritizing both the urgent and important, without compromising productivity.
– Demonstrated leadership, networking and negotiation skills.
– Strong proficiency using all Microsoft Applications.
