Job Purpose:

The Driver will be responsible for driving office vehicles, collecting and delivering people, goods and documents on business safely and efficiently to their destinations.

Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications;

A minimum of Ordinary level certificate in education with at least five years relevant experience preferably in an International NGO with a DL and E classes’ license.Ready to travel to the field from time to time.

General specifications applicable to all positions;

Job Title: Driver (4 positions available)

RTI INTERNATIONAL –

Driver (4 positions) will drive the project vehicles with strict adherence to local traffic laws and in accordance to project rules and regulations pertaining to vehicles.

S/he will transport project staff and materials in Kampala and the regions and maintain the vehicle in a satisfactory condition, including weekly cleaning of the interior and exterior and periodic (quarterly) cleaning of the motor and chassis.

S/he will carry out project errands as required and ensure that the vehicle usage log is updated on a daily basis.

Qualifications:

Secondary schooling desirable with 1 year of relevant experience;

Valid driver’s license in good standing;

Knowledge of car mechanics and repair;

5 years of experience in driving a vehicle; preferably for a USAID or other donor project;

Willingness to drive on missions in the interior of the country.

Preferred: Training certificate in defensive driving.

FHI 360 – Uganda is seeking qualified candidates for her 5 year Uganda Community Connector project (UCC) funded by USAID. Project Driver (4 positions – Kampala, Gulu and Mbarara)

Position summary

The driver will provide driving services to the CC project and ensure proper maintenance of project vehicles with a focus on safety. Additional responsibilities shall include performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection, maintaining a variety of vehicle records, preparing accident and incident reports as necessary, ensuring adherence to traffic rules and regulations and providing other services as requested by management. The post holder will be based in Kampala with frequent visits to upcountry sites and shall report to the Administrative Assistant.
