Grameen Foundation Project Jobs - Program Manager, Savings Group Services, MFS Uganda

With roots in microfinance, Grameen Foundation has a lengthy history of innovating financial products and services for the world’s poor, often by working directly with financial institutions to develop products that meet the needs of their poor clients.Grameen Foundation, in partnership with a major financial institution in Uganda, is launching two new mobile products to support Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs). These products were designed and piloted on a small scale through an initial 18 month engagement with a financial institution in Uganda.  The next phase of this work will see the Grameen Foundation team supporting the institution to operationalize and scale the two products. Grameen Foundation will also work with local and regional teams from the implementing partners to launch the products. The second stage of this project will focus on the development of additional services.Grameen Foundation has also been engaged by a major mobile network operator in Uganda to support development and delivery of a mobile wallet solution for groups. This product will be marketed to appeal to base of the pyramid consumers, in particular VSLAs. The product will also work in conjunction with financial institutions to drive financial inclusion.Job Summary:  The Program Manager, Savings Groups will use broad and comprehensive experience, skills and knowledge to direct all activities related to managing engagements with partner banks, mobile network operators, and savings group implementing partners in Uganda to support savings groups.  The incumbent will further Grameen Foundation’s vision and strategy to leverage mobile technology and innovative financial services models to enable the poor to lead more prosperous lives.  He/she will work directly with the Grameen Foundation global and country-level teams to drive product development and scaling efforts and manage the partner relationships. He/she will also be responsible for identifying and pursuing new opportunities in Uganda and other markets and will lead efforts to disseminate insights and findings from these projects.Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Develop detailed project plans with associated milestones and work with internal and external personnel to ensure goals are metManage the multiple work streams and projects, allocating resources across them in the most efficient manner to deliver to project plansHire and manage any additional resources needed to support the projectCreate and manage budget and ensure all spend is within +/-10% variance per quarter2. Job Role: To manage the Internal Audit function by ensuring assurance and management compliance with relevant business and administrative policies and procedures as well as applicable statutory regulations.
· Plan and Perform audits according to the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and relevant company policies; · Review UCSCU’s business transactions including payment systems to ensure compliance and value for money; · Conduct evaluation and business feasibility studies as directed by the Board and management; · Carry out system reviews and making appropriate recommendations for improvement; · Undertake resource verification including periodic stores and cash counts as and when applicable in liaison with the Finance and Administration Department; · Undertake physical verification of existence and location of the Union’s assets in line with the approved Assets Register including asset codes; · Vouch the accuracy and integrity of existence and location of the Union’s assets in line with the established policies and procedures; · Support the Finance Department in follow up and resolution of External audit queries raised by the Union’s External Auditor in liaison with relevant user departments in carrying out of risk analysis to ensure that all major risks of the organization are indentified, analyzed and mitigated; · Review the management and final accounts and supporting schedules for truthfulness and fairness; 3 · Provide technical and professional support to management in the development and implementation of governance and accountability framework; · Provide internal audit and technical support services to SACCOs in line with the Union’s business plan. · Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Board and management. · Annual Audit Plans implemented; · Compliance and value for money audits conducted and reported; · Physical verification of assets undertaken; · Post audit review carried out and reported; · Audit queries followed up and resolved; · Management and final accounts and supporting schedules reviewed; · Technical and professional support services offered to management and Union Members in the development and implementation of governance and accountability frame work; · B.Com/BBA/BSc (Auditing or Accounting Major) or their equivalent from a recognized university; · Full Membership of internationally Recognized Professional Accounting or Auditing Body (ICPAU, CIA, ACCA, etc) is an essential requirement; · A post graduate qualification in a relevant field is an added advantage. · Computer skills (preferably Microsoft Office Application). · Practical knowledge of auditing computer aided applications; · Ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team; 4 · Capacity to establish credibility, and trust and partnership. · Analytical and problem – solving skills. · Excellent interpersonal skills; · Excellent communication and report writing skills. · A person of integrity and honesty; · A minimum of 3 years experience in auditing while working with a reputable auditing firm or private commercial organization, one of which must have been acquired at a similar level/position. Duties and Responsibilities:
Process the registration of new members in accordance with the UNS-SACCO proceduresMaintain and update the members' database on a daily basis.Process Members' Loan applications in accordance with the SACCO proceduresReceive, Receipt and bank all SACCO revenue on a daily basisPrepare loan Recovery schedules for onward submission to the respective UN Agencies by the General Manager.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Loan portfolio reportsUpdate the loan performer system.Responsible for the proper filling of all loan documents and maintenance of all loan filesSkills and Competencies
