About this Job:

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), is one of the world’s largest independent and experienced conservation organizations operating in over 100 countries in the world. WWF – Uganda Country Office (WWF-UCO) is implementing a three year Government of Uganda project funded by UNDP; “Sustainable Environment and Natural Resource Management Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in Uganda”. The project will be implemented in collaboration with responsible partners drawn from Central and Local Government Institutions, Civil Societies and Tertiary Academic Institutions.
WWF-UCO is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position below. The candidate must be good at writing project proposals, planning and have demonstrated, high level of integrity and honesty. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. He/She must be a team player and ready to travel outside their own work station. Must adhere to WWF-UCO values of “Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging”.
Mission of the Department: To ensure the development and implementation of the Country Office’s Conservation Strategy to the highest standards.
1. Position : Information, Education,Communication and Institutional
Support Officer (IECISO)
Reporting to : National Project Manager
Location : Kampala, during its inception,
after which it will relocate to the
project site.
Project Duration : 2 (Two) years

Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and implement the department communication strategy in line with the overall WWF UCO communication strategy;
• Coordinates and nurtures effective partnerships with national, district and other local government authorities;
• Builds capacity through seminars and use of print electronic media and training workshops;

• Develops training and communication materials for different project interventions;
• Carries out collaborative training programmes for selected trainers;
• Participates in relevant workshops and meetings at project and district levels;
• Assesses and documents lessons learnt during implementation of the project;
• Collects and manages relevant data as may be required;
• Compiles and presents regular reports on the tasks assigned;
• Monitors, evaluates and gives technical backstopping to different components of the project;

Requirement:

b) Required Qualifications and experience
• Bachelors degree or equivalent in the field of Information, Communication or other related field;
• Post graduate qualification in any of the above fields is an added advantage;
• Minimum of 2 years work experience in Information, Communication and Educational programmes targeting environmental related issues.

Internal: Interacts and works closely with the WWF-UCO National Project Manager, administrative staff in the Uganda Country Office, and project staff. External: Interacts as required with governmental institutions, Civil Society Organisations, and other stakeholders, in collaboration with the National Project Manager.

Chief Executive Officer

Reporting to the Governing Council, the CEO will be responsible for the overall leadership, development, coordination, promotion and effective management of IIU programs; and for providing technical support to the Council. Specifically the key duties and responsibilities will be to:

Purpose of the Job:-

Must have vast experience in OVC and Home Based Care, WASH and School Health Interventions.  Knowledge and experience in the implementation of various hygiene approaches/models e.g. SAFE, CLTS, PHASE, PHAST and PEC are essential.  Must be experienced in the implementation of Community Health Strategy and school health policy guidelines.  The person must be experienced in project management, operations research, monitoring and evaluation and designing and conducting community based trainings.  In addition the ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator, team player and possess the ability to work under minimum supervision.

Chief Executive Officer

The objectives of the company among others is to improve the life of teh community within 25 km radius of Kakira Sugar Limited (KSL) by developing  and promoting infrastructural facilities in the field of Education, health and roads. KORD has also been instrumental in creating the enviromental for sugarcane farmers to access cheap loans for banks.

KORD is funded by contributions from BSGA  farmers and KSL based on the tons of canes delivered to the factory. Donor support in making KORD the implementing agency for their various projects si ssignificant and growing.

Since its incorporation in 2005 KORD has made impressive progress and has established a petrol station for its farmers to get cheap fuel on credit, enable farmers to access loans on concessionary terms, built schools, clasrooms and laboratories in the catchment area and performed the role of the implementing agency for various projects funded by donors and other agencies.

KORD is now looking to recruit a Ugandan National for the post of Chief Executive Officer.

Programme Officer – Agriculture and Business Development Services

The Kitgum programme is implementing a market oriented livelihoods programme in both Kitgum and Lamwo districts. The programme is based on a gender and market enterprise approach through establishing and building strong linkages between value chain actors within specified value chains.

The role
We are in need of a Programme Officer- Agriculture and Business Development to support the value chain actors to access various agribusiness services required for their business expansion especially market access and financial services. (S)he will be part of a group of the Kitgum programme team and will participate actively in developing context analysis, positioning and designing interventions and business models relevant for agribusiness development. (S)he will provide support to the programme manager in planning , implementation, monitoring and evaluation of livelihoods programme activities and provide technical guidance to project partners, value chain actors and stakeholders on matters relating to strengthening of specified value chain in Kitgum and Lamwo.

Background:

The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to build capacity of health systems in Africa for the delivery of sustainable, high quality care and prevention of HIV/AIDS and related infectious diseases through training, research, and advanced clinical services. IDI has four operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research; and Laboratory services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University-John Hopkins University Core Lab). So as to strengthen support to these core areas of operation, IDI is recruiting Research Regulatory and Monitoring Officer as follows:

Role Summary and Responsibilities:

The Research Regulatory Officer is in charge of enforcing adherence to research guidelines for all the studies conducted at the institute including the research approval process, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and monitoring of studies.

Responsibilities:

Policies and Procedures

Assists with the development and implementation of written research policies and procedures that foster compliance and excellence in research.Proposes changes in IDI research policy in response to changing needs of the organization.Liaise with the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology and other Ethics Committee to ensure that research at IDI is conducted in line with set standardsMonitors any developments in research national policy and brings them to the attention of the IDI Scientific Review CommitteeWorks with the Research Administration office to enforce research related policies and procedures

Training

Assists with development and implementation of the research compliance education and training program for all research staff and students, including regulatory processes, protection of subjects, and responsible conduct of researchEnsure GCP compliance for research study staff and that this is periodically renewed

Communication

Develop and support effective systems of communication to ensure that issues relating to research compliance are effectively resolvedRespond promptly to detected compliance problems by working with impacted study teams to develop corrective actionCoordinate reporting any research compliance discrepancies to the appropriate institutional review committee and the Uganda National Council for Science and TechnologyCompile reports on the status of research compliance as may be required

Monitoring

Lead internal research monitoring and auditing relating to research complianceEnsure that studies have standard operating procedures in place

Documentation

Ensure that documents for completed research studies are archived according to internationally acceptable research standardsMaintain a central file containing stamped copies of study protocols and consent formsCreate systems for ensuring that study approvals remain current

Other

Offer support to the clinical trials unit.Assist in the development of research protocols where necessary.Assist in. other aspects of conducting studies as may be required.Performs any other reasonable duties as may be requestedRequirement:

Educational Qualifications and experience

A Bachelors degree in a health related field.
