BRAC, one the largest Non-Governmental Development Organization in the world, working in a number of countries in Africa and Asia on poverty alleviation Programs, is registered in Uganda as BRAC Uganda. The MasterCard Scholar Program (MCFSP) at BRAC provides talented young people from economically disadvantaged communities with access to quality and relevant education.
BRAC Uganda Research and Evaluation Unit is currently looking for a dynamic and articulate individual to join its team as a Research Fellow (RF)to lead research and evaluation activities related to MCFSR The primary study is a randomized control trial that aims to assess the impact of MCFSP on educational and household outcomes. The Research Fellow will be the primary manger of all research activates related to this project. As such the position requires advanced technical skills, exemplary communication skills, financial management , capability and the ability to work irregular hours with a multicultural and multi-continental team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee the implementation of all activities related to a randomized control trial.Work with program staff to ensure compliance with research protocol while implementing project.Intuitively review, update and manage project plans for financial accountability.Compile and prepare donor reports, including supporting financial reporting, represent BRAC among partners.Support qualitative research activities and reporting.Manage contracts for external data collection. Provide support to REU to mobilize resources for research projects.Assisting programs in designing and preparing proposals for new projects.Qualifications, Skills and Experience: The applicant should hold a Master's Degree in economics, development studies, social science, or a related field.A minimum of two or more years’ experience in impact evaluation, preferred.Strong quantitative research skills, including coursework in econometrics and impact evaluation, required.High proficiency performing data cleaning, management and analysis in STATA, required: high proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, and the ability to build proficiency with software quickly, required.Excellent written and spoken English: outstanding communication skills required.Demonstrated ability to work independently, lead a team, manage deadlines and produce high quality outputAll interested candidates who meet the above requirements must submit their Curriculum Vitae (including date of birth, education qualification, language proficiency, work experience and at least 2 references), cover letter and a STATA "do" file showing analysis performed by you to hrd@uganda.brac.netwith the subject line "Research Fellow-MCFSP" Applications are only accepted via email.
