The Ministry of
Energy and Mineral Development, also Ministry of Energy, Oil and Mineral
Development is one of the governmental bodies of Uganda. The ministry has the
function of developing and implementing policies related to electricity,
minerals, petroleum and petroleum products
The Ministry of
Energy and Mineral Development through the Directorate of Geological Survey and
Mines (Mines Department) is implementing the Mineral Wealth and Mining
Infrastructure Project and Minerals Laboratories Equipping and systems
Development Project.
Job Summary: Inspect mining sites, survey and audit of mines,
system-level evaluations and monitoring of RCM implementation elements, mineral
consignments, mineral supply chain, mineral production and Regional
certification. .
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Inspect mining sites, carry out baseline
studies and audit of mines and mineral traders
· Perform system-level evaluations and
monitoring of RCM implementation elements including mine site inspections
and/or audits and monitoring of national Chain of Custody systems, export
procedures and data management) as required;
· Ensure that mineral consignments are
traceable through their documentation along the chain of custody
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor of
Science in Engineering (Mining, Geotechnical Mine Survey, and Chemical Mineral
Processing, Metallurgical) from a recognized Institution.
· A Bachelor of Science (Geology, Mining
Geology, Environment Management) from a recognized institution
· • Advanced knowledge of both Artisanal and
industrial mining as well as designated mineral supply chains in the Great
Lakes Region and beyond, including considerable field experience will be an
added advantage
· At
least two (2) years of professional working experience in mining inspection and
certification or in a related field
· • Competencies: Good communication skills
(oral/written), Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, Excellent
interpersonal skills; Team Player Customer centric, Advanced knowledge of both
Artisanal and industrial mining as well as designated mineral supply chains in
the Great Lakes Region and beyond. The successful candidate should be ready to
travel extensively and work in any part of the country by normal positing
instruction.
