Senior Underwriter ( FULL TIME )

Profiles International Uganda Ltd is a Human Resource Assessment Company that is supporting a number of organizations in Uganda through provision of Human Resource (HR) solutions.
Our client, a leading insurance company, fully licensed by the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA) to transact general insurance business in Uganda and Ugandan interests abroad, would like to recruit a Senior Underwriter to join its team of professionals committed to excellence. The position holder will reports to the Underwriting Manager.
KEY ASPECTS OF THE POSITION.
This position requires an individual who has good communication skills (both oral and written), has business humour, technically articulate in explaining the company’s products and services and has very good interpersonal skills and public relations. The person must be self-driven, of integrity and result -oriented, being able to take pride in attracting business opportunities to the company and be client focused in fulfilment of the company’s business objectives. She or he should be able to obtain the confidence and trust of peers and high level executives and other stakeholders.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
1) Undertake risk inspection before cover confirmation.
2) Issuance of all policies, bonds, endorsements, facultative, co-insurances.
3) Participate in developing underwriting policies and procedures for the company.
4) Participate in collection of insurance sub-sectoral data on all insurance activities nationally, and also research on regional and international insurance activities and the preparation of market statistics and reports.
5) Assist the Underwriting Manager in issuance of quotations and confirmation of Insurance covers for direct, co-insurance and facultative business.
6) Supervision of Underwriters.
7) Monthly production of underwriting data as specified by the department.
Confirm that underwriters within the firm produce correct policy documents, endorsements, debit and credit notes and thereafter sign the same.
9) Confirm and ensure that underwriters understand the reinsurance program and all products sold by the company through education and consistent appraisal.
10) Presentation of papers and in depth analysis of insurance and respective products to potential clients, seminars/workshops, educational institutions, etc, to build the image of the company.
11 (Carry out any other official duties that may be assigned by the Underwriting Manager or Chief Executive Officer from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
A minimum of a degree in Economics, Commerce, business administration or any social science with a post-graduate qualification in Insurance related fields.
Experience: 5 years experience, at least at Underwriter level.
Other: Must be computer literate with capacity to use one of the common word processing packages, to use spread sheet for tabulation.
Any knowledge of Aims of Premium package will be an added advantage
Age: 35-55 years.
