TweetThe Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non¬government, non- profit HIV research program that was established in 2002 as a result of a memorandum of understanding between Makerere University and The Henry M. Jackson foundation for Advancement of Military Medicine Inc.’of USA (HJF).The primary purpose of MUWRP is to develop, evaluate and provide interventions to mitigate communicable disease threats of public health importance to Uganda. Activities include; vaccine development and building of vaccine testing capability in Uganda, conducting of epidemiological and basic research and provision of HIV Treatment, care and support and surveillance of influenza and other emerging infections. The Project is looking for suitable candidates to fill the positions below:
POSITION TITLE:Nurses and/or Surgical Theatre
Assistants (2 positions)I
LOCATION: Kayunga and Mukono Districts. I
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Under the direction of MUWRP supervisors, provide nursing and/or surgical theatre assistant services as a member of a fixed or mobile safe male circumcision team
2. Assist in minor surgical procedures as per WHO/MOH guidelines under the guidance of technical advisors.
3. Conduct Health Education session and/or routine physical examinations.
4. Ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
5. Participate in complete, timely and accurate documentation of all surgical and follow-up procedures.
6. Maintain Surgical instruments and theatre equipment
7. Other duties as requested.
