REGIONAL PROJECT CORDINATOR (2) ( FULL TIME )
The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to build capacity of health systems in Africa for the delivery of sustainable, high quality care and prevention of HIV/AIDS and related infectious diseases through training, research and advanced clinical services. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: prevention, care and treatment; training; research; laboratory services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University-John Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach programmes. Since April 2011, IDI, with funding from Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been offering safe adult Male medical Circumcision services in Kampala as part of a comprehensive HIV prevention package for men. This initiative, branded “AMAKA -Adult Male Medical Circumcision in Kampala” is being implemented in two facilities in Kampala. IDI has received additional funding to further scale up MMC services beyond Kampala. This MMC scale up will initially involve the districts of: Kyankwanzi, Hoima, Kiboga, Masindi, Kibaale, Kiryandongo Buliisa and Kalangala among many others effective 1st October 2012.

Reports To: Project Manager, Expanded Amaka Project
As part of the plan to scale up the said MMC services, IDI is in the process of recruiting qualified individuals to fill the following positions:
The regional coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that all the projects’ objectives and targets are met according to pre- established standards in the region s/ he manages through effective coordination and planning
Key responsibilities:
• S/he will be responsible for ensuring that all the project’s regional targets are met as per agreed standards.
• Planning and coordination of the regional project resources and ensure that all the resources are well utilized.
• Oversee and supervise project teams.
•-•• Ensure that all regional reports and financial accountabilities are completed accurately and timely submitted
• Participate in project meetings and other activities as specified by supervisor from time to time
• Coordinate field relationships with all the stakeholders
• Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Educational requirements:
• A bachelors degree in human medicine or related field
• A post graduate training in project planning and
management or public health sciences or a related
field will be an added advantage. , .
• Individuals with other relevant qualifications but
required experience will be considered.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
• At least three years experience in coordinating complex development projects in the health field, preferably in the HIV/AIDS field
• At least two years of experience managing technical teams
• Demonstrated experience in establishing effective community based activities; experience developing relationships with community partners
• Excellent writing, analytical and oral presentation skills
• Excellent computer skills including the use of word processing projects, presentation software, email, databases and spread sheets
• Prior experience managing/implementing MMC programmes will be an added advantage.
