Senior Legal Officer ( FULL TIME )

About this Job:

Centenary Bank, the leading Micro Finance and Commercial Bank in Uganda seeks to recruit suitably qualified, experienced and competent persons in the following fields;

6. Senior Legal Officer Reports to: Legal Manager
Role: Conduct research, provide legal advice, prepare and review legal documents and represent the bank in legal matters in accordance with the law (statutory requirements), bank policies, and departmental work plan and business goals.
Key Result Areas:
1. Prepare and renew leases and tenancy agreements in respect of properties owned or rented by the Bank in line with the Bank’s requirements, approved terms and conditions.
2. Prepare and renew service level agreements entered into by the Bank for provision supplies and services in line with the Bank’s requirements and review contract performance in accordance with Bank policy.
3. Draft documentation for provision of loans and advances to customers and ensure their proper and timely perfection and registration in compliance with bank policy and for enforceability in courts of law.
4. Conduct legal research and provide legal advice and guidance on proactive compliance of the Bank with new legislation and or best practices likely to affect the Bank’s business, policy and operating environment.
5. Review investigation reports and findings and make recommendations for appropriate legal action to redress the Bank.
6. Respond to notices of intention to sue and liaise with external advocates on outstanding cases in courts of law and advise on appropriate legal risk management measures and action.
7. Represent the Bank in courts of law and also represent the Legal division in Management Committees and inter-divisional meetings.
