Executive Director ( FULL TIME )
The AIDS Support Organization (TASO Uganda), an organisation contributing to a process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of Life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease; requires services of a dynamic Executive Director.
S/he will assist the TASO Board of Trustees in fulfilling its mandate and provide overall strategic leadership and management to TASO, in the attainment of the organization’s strategic goals and accomplishment of its mission.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• • Lead the formulation of TASO strategic and development plans, formulation and review of policies when appropriate, and recommend the plans and policies to the Board of Trustees for approval. • Determine the direction for TASO’s organizational development.
• Take overall leadership in the formulation of TASO work plans and budgets.
• Present TASO work plans and budgets to the Board of Trustees and to development partners as required.
• Provide strategic guidance in the mobilization of funds and other resources required for the effective implementation of TASO activities and oversee the preparation of proposals for resource mobilisation support to TASO.
• Negotiate with development partners for the provision of resource support to TASO.
• Direct the establishment of effective and efficient management and operating structures and systems.
• Provide appropriate guidance to the Deputy Executive Director, and take other necessary measures to ensure that TASO has the quantity and quality of resources it requires for the effective and efficient implementation of its programmes, and that the available resources are utilised effectively and efficiently.
• Foster strong and productive teamwork among the top management of TASO and establish a teamwork culture at all levels of TASO.
• Provide overall direction in the implementation of TASO programmes and carry out strategic monitoring and evaluation of TASO operations.
• Maintain oversight of financial control, and the appropriate and judicious utilisation of funds and other resources under TASO’s care, in accordance with relevant policies, agreements, regulations and legislation.
• Provide strategic and policy guidance on TASO advocacy programme and the partnerships between TASO and other organizations/bodies.
• Attend strategic partnership and donor meetings and other for a.
• Closely follow the global and national trends in the response to HIV/AIDS, and determine what action TASO needs to take to respond to them .
• Provide Board Secretarial services to TASO, Convene meetings of the Board of Trustees as required and provide the necessary support and guidance to the Board of Trustees at their meetings.
• Keep the Board of Trustees up-dated on key program developments and decisions taken by management and submit to the Board for their approval or noting, proposals and other issues requiring their attention.
• Review monitoring and evaluation reports, and the extent of attainment of TASO’s goals and accomplishment of its mission, and take necessary follow-up actions.
• Determine performance targets for the supervisees, and carry out period appraisals of performance against the set targets in line with the HR policies.
• Direct and guide the preparation of consolidated annual reports and other special reports on TASO activities, in consultation with the Deputy Executive Director

• Health/medical knowledge, with a bias in HIV/AIDS.
• Basic interventions of HIV/AIDS, and rights of people living with HIV/AIDS.
• The HIV/AIDS situation in Uganda and the rest of the world. -
• Developments’ and trends in HIV/AIDS care in Uganda and internationally.
• Potential sources of support for HIV/AIDS care activities.
• National and international legislations and policies relating to HIV/AIDS.
• Monitoring and evaluation principles. Board Secretarial practice.
