Uganda: Design Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator-WASH

Position: Design, Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator-WASH

Report to: Integrated Programs Division Director Location: National Office, Kampala

Purpose of the position:Leading the design and implementation of the M&E activities of WASH Technical Program, Preparing Quarterly/Annual progress reports and, on-going monitoring and evaluations including documentation and learning and compliancy in the WASH Technical programme

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership—including technical assistance, guidance, and direction—related to M&E plans and systems, performance management for WASH projects etc. Support staff in design of WASH projects, monitoring of projects and preparing project progress reports. • Develop capacity of staff to utilize existing WASH M&E tools for proper tracking and reporting of WASH TP contribution to CWBO in World Vision Uganda, including coaching and mentoring for staff, partners and other stakeholders on Design, monitoring, evaluation & research. • Coordinate Planning and implementation of monitoring, evaluation & research initiatives in the WASH Technical programme • Actively facilitate and support development of WASH Technical programme annual work-plans and budgets • Facilitate monitoring and tracking implementation of program monitoring and mid-term evaluation recommendations • Develop and lead the implementation of the overall WASH Technical programme M&E framework such as, annual project reviews, participatory impact assessments, process monitoring, operations monitoring and lessons-learned workshops • Periodically review and train staff in using the existing M&E tools • Perform periodic data quality assessments to ensure validity, integrity, precision, reliability and timeliness of all performance data; identify any deficiencies and suggest corrective actions; and assist the technical team members to maintain electronic and hard copy files. • Establishing and managing a performance monitoring framework for the WASH Technical Program with clear goals, outcomes, outputs, inputs, processes, indicators, data needs and sources, and reporting formats and frequency, for effective monitoring, reporting and updating progress of the WASH Technical programme • Support strategic thinking and planning in relation to integration of the management information system (MIS) and application of M&E data • Facilitate organizational learning by developing, collecting and disseminating relevant WASH technical programme information to all key partners • Facilitate documentation and sharing of success and impact stories during learning and reflection meetings. • Design and implement program impact assessments/evaluation, operation research or special studies to improve programming in line with program implementation plan in WASH technical program for informing decisions at national level • Prepare consolidated progress reports to submit to WVU Senior Leadership Team and WASH programme donors in accordance with approved reporting formats and timing. • Prepare monitoring and evaluation and learning reports documenting the findings of monitoring and mid-term processes. In addition, consolidates reports, or data at outcome and output level and shares with the respective partners in the consortium based on their respective guidelines or reporting templates • Support in resource acquisition through development of concepts, proposals and response to RFAs

Qualifications:

Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

Must possess a university degree in development discipline with know of statistic or mathematics and a post graduate qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation or WASH related discipline.Have at least five years of field experience in Project Design, Monitoring and Evaluation: designing, preparing and conducting surveys, collecting and analyzing baseline data, and reporting.Advanced computer skills in Excel, MS Access, SPSS and other statistical packages.Knowledge of GPS mapping software is an added advantageExcellent analytical and communications (written and oral) skills; must be able to obtain, analyze and evaluate a variety of information; organize, interpret and present it in meaningful oral or written form for varied audiencesAbility to train and coach staff and partnersDemonstrable abilities in planning and coordinationGood team player with good problem solving skills;

Experience required in piping and pressure vessel design. Good working knowledge of Autocad/Autopipe, and Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with ASME VIII div 1 & 2 and design codes such as ASTM, BS and EN codes. Experience with pipe stress analysis, Autopipe and or Caesar II. Have a working Knowledge of process and instrument diagrams (P&IDs)

Responsibilities
Design of mechanical components associated with marine cargo plants and onshore facilities to code and classification requirements, principally for liquefied gas storage and handling. Ensuring safe and economical design is satisfied and striving for continuous improvement in the design aspects. Experience of Piping design including calculations, layout, piping supports, etc. Good problem solving skills. Production and checking of engineering documents such as:

Calculations
Material Lists
Procedures Internal and Client

• Evaluating and approving of third party quotations and final design and Liaison with other departments as required

Qualifications & Experience

Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (other relevant qualifications may be considered)
5 years experience in mechanical design or other relevant experience
Preferably minimum of 2 years piping and pressure vessel design.

Job Summary: The Product Design Fellow (PDF) will drive human-centered design thinking for AppLab Money’s projects.  The PDF will work with the AppLab Money team to develop and execute user research and product testing strategies, track the user experience during pilots, and work with the technology team to ensure that the products are improved to meet the needs of users.

Reports to: Project Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Manage product design and innovation processes for the AppLab Money Incubator
Work with the AppLab team to determine product solutions that meet core needs of poor consumers through:
Planning and conducting primary research studies designed to understand user needs
Refining our process for testing to unearth key user insights more efficiently and effectively
Conducting brainstorming, requirements-gathering and design review sessions
Work with the team to develop strategies to rapid prototyping and iteration of product concepts through:
Developing wireframes and prototypes (both static and interactive) for testing with users.
Facilitating the product filtering process to ensure that products chosen for testing are technically feasible, commercially sustainable, and compliant with Bank of Uganda regulations
Monitoring and reporting on user feedback from the field and sharing that feedback within the team to quickly refine the product prototypes

    Document research findings in various forms (blogs, monthly updates, reports etc.)
Advocate for the adoption of human-centered design throughout GF worldwide
Provide training and mentorship in human-centered design to help junior staff integrate design principles in their work going forward

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Has a deep commitment to eradication of poverty and alignment with Grameen Foundation’s mission
Believes in the potential to leverage information and communication technology (ICTs) for the benefit of poor people
Has professional experience in human-centered design
Is able to bring creativity, innovation, and a thirst for new ideas to our team
Has strong prototyping and visual communication skills (experience developing mobile phone based products/apps preferred but not required)
Has strong written and oral communication skills
Has strong analytical and business modeling skills
Has deep knowledge of Microsoft office products (excel, powerpoint, word, etc.)
Experienced working in developing countries preferred but not required

Education and Experience:

    An undergraduate degree or higher in product design, engineering or related field.
3+ years professional experience developing new products through a human-centered design lens

Job Description:

Job Overview:

The Design Senior Artist with a strong background in Designing will be responsible for mainly doing design work, from simple to complex designs which include templates. In addition, the Design Senior Artist ? Design will be responsible for developing educational tools for clients by doing layout and design and creating appropriate designs that meet the clients? needs at all times.
Main Responsibilities:

?Develop new educational tools for clients by doing layout and design, creating appropriate designs that meet client needs at all times
?Create, manipulate and form designs in various styles as needed by the client
?Carry on any design job. This includes both simple and complex designs including templates
?Revise current educational tools to Mango Tree?s standards
?Assist in-house running of projects through communicating with project managers, give creative development ideas, time management and record keeping
?Pretest products with clients
?Participate in department and staff meetings
?Assist in training new staff in the designing line
?Make a monthly work plan and submit to supervisor
?Give guidance in printing and laminating jobs done
?Assist in department management as needed
?Perform any other administrative work as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Description (Duties):

Job Summary:

The Senior Mobile Money Application Design and Architecture Expert (MMDAE) will assist to integrate MM platform to various financial institutions. He/she will lead the design, specification and development teams.
Essential Job Functions:

Carry out research on various MM, banking, financial institutions and integration platforms,
Design and architect secure middleware infrastructure capable of connecting, and facilitating transaction between different m-Money and financial institutions systems
Design, architect and develop mobile applications that are layered over this middleware platform, extend the existing capabilities of MTN’s MM platform, and leverage existing financial networks, focusing on financial inclusion at the BOP Collect integration requirements and write specifications and related design and implementation documentation & roadmaps for these systems and applications
Write test plans and execute unit, assembly, application, and integration testing to certify applications with mobile operators and financial institutions.
Work closely with development teams to develop, test and deploy these systems and applications

Necessary Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Deep commitment to eradication of poverty and alignment with Grameen Foundation’s mission
Experience working in developing countries
Experience in developing technology for highly security-sensitive environments, financial and banking institutions
Financial application architecture and development skills (+)
Mobile application architecture and development skills (+)
Familiarity with existing financial systems, and various financial transaction platforms, including FundamoUser-oriented application design experience, including user-interface design, ethnographic research and usability testing
Belief in the potential to leverage information and communication technology (ICTs) for the benefit of poor people –with practical experience.
Some knowledge of the mobile money space
fluent in oral and written English

Education and Experience:

Masters degree in engineering, software development, computer science or related discipline
5+ years working experience in an design/architecture role

* Experience with GUI and interaction design.

* Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, ActionScript, PHP, JSP; experience with CSS a plus
