Job Summary: The Senior Nurse will provide leadership, control, strategic direction, management and support for the Palliative Care (PC) Nursing Services across the three Hospice sites. The incumbent will also advocate for Hospice palliative care nursing model, network widely with other health providers; provide advice and guidance on issues relating to PC Nursing practice.Key Duties and Responsibilities:  1. Leadership and Development:Develops, reviews and implements the PC Nursing strategy for HAU; advocates for the PC Nursing Care services within HAU and in the wider healthcare forums in Uganda and Africa;The Senior Nurse will be responsible for standard setting, and ensuring compliance with regulation.Ensure the delivery of high quality PC Nursing services; Provides technical nursing advice and support; Manages the nursing teams to deliver high standards of care and ensure continuity of care for patients; Updates and maintains excellent communication within HAU and with key stakeholders;Ensures proper documentation and record-keeping.3. Job Summary: The IOM Clinical Nurse will assist in the processing of migration health assessment of migrants and implementation of expanded vaccination programme for refugees destined to USA. Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Coordinates medical follow ups in the refugee settlements with IOM Medical Officers;Conducts vaccination for migrants as prescribed by the IOM Medical Officers, evaluates applicants for contraindications, updates vaccination data, administer subsequent doses of vaccines in the field, maintains cold chain and ensures safekeeping of the vaccines, and submit vaccines order requests in a timely manner;Carry out identity check for each migrant before blood collection, urine and sputum specimen collections, and x-ray procedures;Coordinates and liaises with x-ray departments, laboratory units, clinics and referral hospitals and sets appointments for various follow ups;Informs IOM Medical Officers when the migrant has completed treatment(s) prescribed, and ensures that required reports are provided to the appropriate parties as well as coordinating and maintaining precise tracking records of all medical reviews;Work in liaison with IOM Medical Officers about fitness to travel of migrants and conduct pre departure checks in the field, de-worming and administering antimalarial treatments when required. Reports of same must be provided to the IOM Medical Officer in an accurate and timely manner;Compile and prepares monthly reports for all cases cleared to travel and those on medical hold with projected dates of clearance;Initiates anti -TB treatment for eligible migrants as per the panel physician recommendation in the field, provide directly observed therapy (DOT) for patients at IOM TB clinic monitor treatment progress and drugs side effects, conduct monthly evaluation, observe DOT’s during the weekend, perform home visits and contact tracing, provide Health Education and counseling for TB patients and contacts;Ensures safekeeping and monitoring of TB drug inventory and tracking of expiry date, request of supplementary feeding for patients and other medical items on timely manner;Compiles required reports and timely submission to the National TB Program and IOM Kampala Office;Encodes data on spreadsheet, compile monthly statistical reports as required and ensure appropriate filing system for all reports and records;Safekeeping, monitoring and organization of medical stock and inventory especially tracking of expiry date. Head of Department refers to the Head of the respective Institution of the Applicant. Applications found to be in contravention of this requirement will not be accepted.

Note that short listed candidates will be required to bring their original certificates. Candidates who will present forged certificates shall be handed to the Police for appropriate action.

Applicants must also fulfill the following conditions:

i Attach three (3) of their recent passport-size photographs and copies of their academic and professional certificates and testimonials.

ii Attach copies of the letter(s) of appointment, confirmation and promotion in case of serving officers. This includes applicants from non Public Health Service facilities.

iii In case of Health Workers who are required by law to register with the relevant Councils, such applicants must be so registered; and therefore have to attach copies of certificates of registration. Similarly, all candidates who are required by law to possess practicing licenses must attach copies of valid practicing licenses.

Duration of Appointment: As need arise

General functions:

Under the overall supervision of the Regional Migration Health Assessment Coordinator for Africa and Middle East and under the administrative and technical supervision of the Migration Health Physician in Migration Health Assessment Center (MHAC) and under the direct supervision of the Chief Nurse at the (MHAC) - Nairobi.

The incumbent will be responsible for performing required routine clinical tasks/procedures in connection with the health assessment and treatment to ensure that identified refugees and migrants are medically fit to migrate in
accordance with the medical/health requirements of the receiving countries.

The incumbent shall perform the following essential functions:

Giving appointments and scheduling health assessments including pre-test counseling, laboratory and radiology for refugees and migrants.Coordination of work and schedule between MHAC-Nairobi, laboratory, radiology, counseling unit and the examining physicians.-Organizes medical files and relevant medical documents in accordance with responsibilities of duty nurses at MHAC-Nairobi.Assists in preparatory work for health assessments, including: taking measurements, collecting case history, checking blood pressure, heart rate, visual acuity, etc.Maintains confidentiality of information, collaborative relationship with clients, partners and health professionals.Participates in field missions, out-of-duty station and medical escorting of migrants traveling under auspices of IOM when assigned by the Head of MHAC.Performs any other duties that may be assigned by from time to time.Desirable Qualifications:

Education, experience and competencies:

Kenyan citizen.Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years work experience in Clinical NursingMature individual, able to work independently, effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds at all levelsCapable of working under stressful and difficult conditionsDemonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality in performing responsibilitiesTraining and experience in TB, STDs, other communicable diseases and migration health is considered an assetPrevious work experience with an international organization and NGOs dealing with refugees would be strong advantageComputer literate on Microsoft Word, Excel and AccessFluency in English and Swahili languages. Proficiency in Somali a strong advantageMethod of Application:
