About the Organization:
Grameen Foundation, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington, DC with an office in Seattle, Washington, was founded in 1997 by friends of Grameen Bank to help microfinance practitioners and spread the Grameen philosophy worldwide.

Background:
Its Mobile Money Accelerator aims to scale mobile money in Uganda and use it as a platform for the delivery of appropriate products and services. The focus will be on capturing 3 million new active users in the segment that lives under $2.50/day. In close collaboration with our telecom partner, this program will work to grow the mobile money ecosystem to reach rural areas and decrease the lag time in delivering products that are appropriate, accessible and affordable to the poor. Research and product design will fall under the arm of the Mobile Financial Services incubator where the Project Director will oversee the team that will conduct in-depth research on customer financial services needs, convert those insights into product concepts, conduct rapid product testing, and developing pro-poor products and services.

About the Job:
Grameen Foundation is seeking a Director Mobile Financial Services who will be responsible for leading, designing, implementing and evaluating the mobile financial services initiatives in Uganda (based in Kampala) and will oversee the efforts of the two current mobile financial services programs.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Recruit, manage and lead the mobile financial services programs/initiatives using established program and project management processes to ensure compliance with organizational strategies, goals and objectives to achieve milestones within budget;Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders;Coordinate closely with telecom partner counterpart to mitigate risks, resolve issues and keep project on target;Define and deliver the partnerships and ecosystem;Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel;Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the various project teams;Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path;Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools;Track project milestones and deliverables;Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations;Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans;Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and consultants, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work;Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the projects;Research technological innovations, business models and industry best practices.

Qualifications:
Expert understanding of mobile financial services and branchless banking channels in the developing world;Strong background in product development for financial inclusion;Working knowledge of transactional payment platforms;Expert understanding of project management, particularly with business solution deployment and risk/change management;Proven ability to keep project on track in a challenging environment;Demonstrated program leadership skills in a matrix organization structure; experience leading cross-functional and diverse teams;Experience in operational and field issues associated with retail banking, experience in emerging market a plus;Excellent writing, research and communication skills; ability to gather, synthesize and present information in a professional, compelling and practical manner;Qualitative and quantitative analysis skills, including use of financial models;Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail;Experience with information communication technology, including online portals, intranets, collaborative workspaces and/or other internet-based knowledge management tools;Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;Excellent organizational and time management skills;Fluency in oral and written English.
